Management strategy of RhD negative patients with postpartum hemorrhage

Abstract

Transfusion of blood products sometimes are crucial for response to postpartum hemorrhage. The RhD-negative pregnant women are more difficult to manage postpartum hemorrhage due to insufficient blood source and homoimmunity. Therefore, blood products should be sufficient prepared for RhD-negative pregnant women before delivery, and autologous blood storage is one of recommended method. The patient with significant blood loss from cesarean section can be considered for intraoperative cell salvage and RhD-positive blood can be transfused in emergency situation to save lives. \n \n \nKey words: \nPostpartum hemorrhage;\xa0Blood transfusion, autologous;\xa0Rh-Hr blood-group system
