Eating Pattern Relationship With Events Diabetes Mellitus Type 2 In The Working Area Of The Pertiwi Health Center, Makassar City
Abstract
Indonesia is one of the countries with a high prevalence of diabetes cases and is predicted to have 21.3 million people with diabetes in 2030. This study aimed to determine the relationship between dietary habits and type-2 diabetes mellitus cases in the working area of Pertiwi Health Center, Makassar in 2020. The type of this study was quantitative research using an analytical observational method and a cross-sectional design. This study was conducted in November 2020 in the working area of \u200b\u200b Pertiwi Health Center with a total sample of 81 respondents calculated using Slovin’s formula. Samples were selected using the accidental sampling technique. Data were collected through interviews using a food recall questionnaire. The collected data were then processed using the guidelines for the individual food consumption survey and the Nutrisurvey application. The data were also analyzed using the Chi-squared test through the SPSS application and then presented in tabular and narrative forms. The results of statistical tests showed that there was a significant relationship between the frequency of eating (p-value = 0.002 <0.05), the amount of food (p-value = 0.000 <0.05), and the type of food (p-value = 0.043 <0, 05) with the incidence of type 2 diabetes mellitus. It is hoped that people will continue to maintain their diet in order to avoid the risk of type 2 diabetes.
