Enzyme inhibition activity of a phytopathogenic fungus by extracts of some plants growing wild in Algeria

Abstract

In this study, two plants growing wild in Algerian Sahara (Nerium oleander and Anabasis aretioides) were used to evaluate the effect of their extracts on the cellulases of Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. albedinis, degradation enzymes of walls of the host plant (Phoenix dactylifera L). The results of enzymatic activity, by the technique of the contact bioautography, showed that some extracts of the selected plants present a significant effect on the cellulases of Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. albedinis. The diversity of natural substances was observed in these extracts. Antifungal effects were mostly represented by the dichloromethanic and ethyl acetate extracts of Nerium oleander and the ethyl acetate extract of Anabasis aretioides.
