O lugar de Weber na sociologia da reprodução de Pierre Bourdieu e Jean-Claude Passeron

 

Abstract


This bibliographic research discusses two questions that intertwine in the course of the article: the first, we analyze to what extent Bourdieu/Passeron s theory of reproduction, in the field of sociology of education, is debiting the Weber s theoretical heritage; the second, starting from the previous one, we intend to clarify the reasons that, in theoretical terms, led the French authors, of a certain optimism in their first researches - the thesis of rational pedagogy found in Les heritiers: Les etudiants et la culture of 1964 -, to the problem that guided the research about a completely deterministic view of socio-cultural possible changes trough the education system in La Reproduction. Elements d’une theorie du systeme d’enseignement from 1970. We point out that in the Weber s theoretical elements reworking - due to the social function of Durkheim-inspired symbolism - there was a different understanding of the education’s system role in the modern society. What would no longer open space for a normative position such as that was previously intended in Os Herdeiros.
