Primary anaplastic large T-cell lymphoma of the psoas muscle.
Abstract
Lymphomas presenting and mimicking soft-tissue masses are important to recognize, to avoid unnecessary treatment delays or extensive surgery. We describe a\xa0case of\xa0primary anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL) arising from a\xa0deep skeletal muscle in a\xa0middle-aged male. He presented with a\xa0two-month history of\xa0swelling of\xa0his right thigh and mild fever, which led to a\xa0diagnosis of\xa0abscess formation. Antibiotics were prescribed for two weeks, with little improvement of\xa0symptoms. Subsequently, an\xa0exploratory surgery, with excision of\xa0the\xa0mass, demonstrated a\xa0ALCL of\xa0the\xa0psoas muscle, ALK-1 positive.
