O CAMPO DE PODER DAS VACINAS NA PANDEMIA DA COVID-19
Abstract
The Covid-19 pandemic has brought broad multidimensional repercussions and therefore boosted a race for the discovery and production of vaccines in large scale due to the active involvement of different players such as National States, pharmaceutical business groups and the technical-scientific community. Taking this discussion for granted, this essay aims to discuss the main geopolitical and geoeconomic issues involved in this race for vaccines through an exploratory and descriptive study regarding to its purpose as well as a quali-quantitative study regarding to its means. It has been used a historical-theoretical-deductive method and a methodological triangulation based on a bibliographical and legal review for the data collection and on a hermeneutic, geospatial and graphical analysis for the data analysis. Based on the results presented in this paper it is concluded that the race for the vaccine has had repercussions in a double field of power that was permeated by conflicting and cooperative geopolitical and geoeconomic vectors responsible for generating an asymmetrical pattern of power in which vaccines became predominantly private goods whose internalization is accessible to a restricted group of countries with medium and high per capita income.
