PORTUGUÊS COMO LÍNGUA DE ACOLHIMENTO EM RORAIMA: DA FALTA DE FORMAÇÃO ESPECÍFICA À NECESSIDADE SOCIAL

Abstract

The mass immigration of Venezuelans to Brazil increased demand and, consequently, the supply of Portuguese courses offered by institutions in Roraima. In this sense, the teaching of the majority language of Brazil is a way to welcome the immigrant of different language and culture. However, few Roraima teachers have specific training to teach Portuguese as a foreign language. Thus, the need has arisen to investigate which Institutions of Higher Education offer courses to immigrants and what training offered in this area. For the theoretical basis, authors such as Almeida Filho (2007), Judice (2016) and Amado (2013) were used. The methodology was qualitative and interpretative (BORTONI-RICARDO, 2008). The results showed that neither UERR, UFRR and IFRR have, in their curriculum obligatory subjects directed to teaching of LP to foreigners. However, the first two offer extension courses from 2006 and 2007, respectively, with professors and academics involved in teaching and research in this area. In the perspective of Portuguese as host language (PLAc), the work began in 2017 and the research is still incipient. On the other hand, due to the great demand, the IFRR started offering Portuguese courses to immigrants, starting in 2017. 1 Professora da Universidade Estadual de Roraima. Mestre em Letras pela UFRR.
