Clinical Oncology Society of Australia position statement on exercise in cancer care
Abstract
In reply: The Clinical Oncology Society of Australia (COSA) position statement endorses evidencedbased guidelines and promotes best practice care.1–4 The statement identifies that recommendations should be tailored to individuals’ abilities, noting that specific exercise adaptations might be needed based on disease and treatmentrelated adverse effects, anticipated disease trajectory and health status.1 Patientdriven goals and preferences are also important considerations. Clearly one size does not fit all, and the mode, intensity, volume, frequency, level of supervision and delivery style of exercise should be tailored to meet the needs of each patient with cancer in the context of the sometimes limited high level evidence available.
