Modificações Corporais: atores e significados a partir de uma websérie

 
 

Abstract


Considering the growth on demand for Body Modifications (MC), particularly young people and teenagers, this evolution currently becomes as an important subject to be discussed in the educational development. Regarding the perspective of minimizing some of the concerns associated with these actions, is proposed extra knowledge about its supporters, objectives and meanings. Using the internet as a basis of promotion for MC knowledge, this study is supported on YouTube (video sharing site) with an investigation focused on the nature of the MC and It will be performed by the subjects throughout their life. We chose the Sautering web series, a 8 episodes set, available until July 2017. For the analysis, stood selected the first 3 episodes, involving a total of sixteen subjects interviewed. Objectives: i) characterize the users of techniques for corporal modifications; ii) identify the first contact with MC; iii) describe the meaning of these CM for each individual. In methodological terms it was a qualitative approach focused on descriptive basis, built on the content analysis of the interviewees discourse. The most common modifications are tattoos and piercings; the interest in making use of MCs starts in adolescence, under different influences; the meanings are related to important historical facts, personal tastes, idols, registers of realized achievements and others. Considering the relationship between MCs and health risks, the relation with self-esteem and identity development, it was important the insertion of the theme at school, promoting knowledge and settlement to young people and trainers.
