Designing a Comprehensive Cyber Security System under Connected and Automated E-Mobility Network Environment

 
 
 
 

Abstract


As we enter a super-connected and intelligent society, it enables the development of intelligent business and services that have not been encountered before (e.g., “smart” roads and cities in our lives) by integrating DNA (Data, Network, and AI) technologies. In particular, Connected and Automated Driving System (CADS) has attracted attention as a leading technology among future technologies, so it is spurring continuous investment and research of “automation” in mobility from both public and private sectors. Also, various technologies are being converted from internal combustion engines to “electrification” to overcome global warming to adopt de-carbonization technologies as the world faces in the era of energy conversion. New technologies that have not been built and operated in the past are eventually “super-connected” with communication and sensor technologies. Sine they will make decisions based on various data and artificial intelligence, system malfunctions or cybersecurity will be crucial aspects. As a result, vehicle accidents caused by a cyber attack may lead to casualty, loss of property, or traffic congestion. Governments and related jurisdictions realized the danger of cybersecurity problems, so they established various policies and regulations such as the “Korean New Deal” in the new-normal area. However, the establishment of rules and information platforms for cybersecurity is insufficient in mobility environment (Automation, Connected, Electrification, and Sharing, ACE’S), and there is no comprehensive evaluation system for how to cope with problems. Therefore this study categorizes the types of cybersecurity that can be occurred when implementing the ACE’s environment, explains the vulnerabilities, and proposes a framework that can diagnose the security components. The results of the research can be used to mitigate the potential incidents due to digital crime in the era of the upcoming mobility revolution and expected to support accurate and systematic analysis even in the event of an accident (hacking).
