Bis(2,4,6-triisopropylphenyl)(fluorenylidene)stannane (1) reacts nearly quantitatively with compounds having active hydrogen atoms (alcohols, amines, mineral acids, phenylacetylene) and with lithium aluminium hydride to give the corresponding stannanes. Methyl iodide also adds easily to the tin-carbon double bond. Compound 1 slowly dimerizes at room temperature in solution. The head-to-tail dimer 10 has been structurally characterized by X-ray analysis which reveals long intracyclic Sn-C bonds (2.288(4) to 2.293(5) angstrom) and a planar four-membered ring.

Abstract An extension of coordination by intramolecular N → P donor-aceptor interaction in (8-dimethylamino-1-naphthyl)diphenylphosphane 1 has been shown by X-ray structure determination. In addition, a very easy intramolecular isomerisation process around the phosphorus atom at room temperature was revealed by dynamic NMR studies. Isomerisation also occurs in the corresponding oxide 2, sulfide 3, and phosphonium salts 4 and 5, but with slightly higher activation energies.

Abstract An X-ray analysis of oraposide, previously reported as orobanchoside and isolated from Orobanche rapumgenistae confirms the originality of an unusual cyclic structure formed by an ether linkage between a glucose molecule and a 3,4-dihydroxyphenylglycol.

[K(C7H11O4)].H2O, M(r) = 216.27, tetragonal, P4(3), a = 9.251 (3), c = 13.123 (4) angstrom, V = 1123 (1) angstrom 3, Z = 4, D(x) = 1.29 Mg m-3, lambda(Mo K-alpha) = 0.71069 angstrom, mu = 0.45 mm-1, F(000) = 456, T = 293 K, R = 0.041 for 1121 observed reflections. The asymmetric unit contains one formula unit of potassium hydrogen diethylmalonate linked by a hydrogen bond to the water molecule. Each molecule is intramolecularly hydrogen bonded and the carboxylic and carboxylate groups lying in the same plane of symmetry are equivalent.
