The effective hydroxylation of benzene by hydrogen peroxide in a heterophase system

E. A. Karakhanov; S. Yu. Narin; A. G. Dedov

We report upon the development of new catalytic systems for the selective hydroxylation of benzene under mild conditions. These involve the use of surfactant-transition metal salts and hydrogen peroxide.

Hydrogenation of oxygen-containing functional derivatives of aromatic hydrocarbons

E. A. Karakhanov; A. G. Dedov; L.E. Tskhai

In the review, data on the hydrogenation of a number of oxygen-containing derivatives of aromatic compounds ― phenols, aromatic carboxylic acid, benzocrown ethers ― by molecular hydrogen in the presence of different catalysts are classified and discussed

Chemistry of Heterocyclic Compounds | 1986

Hydrogenation of furfural on polymer-containing catalysts

E. A. Karakhanov; E. B. Neimerovets; V. S. Pshezhetskii; A. G. Dedov

The catalytic hydrogenation of furfural with molecular hydrogen has been investigated under mild conditions in the presence of metal complex catalysts with a polymeric macroligand. It has been shown that the reaction proceeds according to a consecutive scheme with the formation of furfuryl and tetrahydrofurfuryl alcohols. The kinetics of furfural hydrogenation has been investigated and the order of the reaction established; the rate constants of the first and second stages have been determined. The influence of the solvent and of the metal-to-polymer ratio on the furfural conversion have been investigated.

Homogeneous H-D exchange of heterocycles and some hydrocarbons with D2O in the presence of pt(II) complexes

E. A. Karakhanov; A. G. Dedov; A. S. Loktev; L. V. Popov; P. A. Sharbatyan; I. V. Arkhangel'skii

The homogeneous isotope exchange of O-, N-, and S-containing heterocyclic compounds and a number of hydrocarbons with D2O in the presence of platinum (II) complexes, viz., potassium tetrachloroplatinite, platinum(II) monochlorodiethylene-triaminepentaacetate, chlorodiethylenediamineplatinum(II), dichloroethylenediamineplatinum(II), dichloroethylenediaminetetraacetatoplatinum(II) and, in the case of hydrocarbons, potassium tetrachloroplatinite, was investigated. The M factors were calculated for the H-D exchange of the hydrocarbons. It was shown that the H-D exchange of benzene has multiple character, whereas it has stepwise character in the case of cyclohexane.

Chemistry of Heterocyclic Compounds | 1983

H-D exchange of heterocyclic compounds on catalysts of various types

A. G. Dedov; T. Yu. Filippova; E. B. Neimerovets; L. V. Popov; I. P. Stepanova; E. A. Karakhanov

The H-D exchange of a number of oxygen-containing heterocyclic compounds with various deuterating agents, viz., D20, C6D6, and C2D5OD, was investigated. Group VIII metals and their salts and oxides, as well as carbon, aluminum oxide, aluminum silicate, and a metal zeolite, were used as catalysts. The mechanism of H-D exchange and the effect of the nature of the catalyst on its activity in the reaction are discussed.

Chemistry of Heterocyclic Compounds | 1982

Reactions involving isotopic exchange of heterocyclic compounds with D2O in the presence of transition metals (review)

E. A. Karakhanov; A. G. Dedov

The results of isotopic exchange with D2O of various O-, N-, and S-containing heterocycles and some hydrocarbons on transition metals are discussed from the positions of the theory of π-complex adsorption. The effect of various fragments of the molecules (the aromatic or alicyclic ring, electron-donor or electron-acceptor substituents, double bonds, and the number and nature of the heteroatoms) on the character of the substrate-catalyst interaction and on the reaction as a whole is examined on the basis of kinetic data from 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy and Chromatographic mass spectrometry. Isotopic exchange mechanisms are discussed.
