Abstract Longitudinal and transverse response functions, R L and R T , have been obtained in inclusive quasi-elastic electron scattering from 4 He and 208 Pb, for momentum transfers between 300 and 650 MeV/ c and energy transfers up to 350 MeV. A quenching of R L , ∼ 14% in 4 He and ∼ 50% in 208 Pb has been observed. Interpretations in terms of correlations and modification of nucleon form factors in the nuclear medium are discussed.

Abstract Longitudinal and transverse cross sections for the reaction 4 He(e, e′ p) 3 H were determined for missing momenta p m up to 190 MeV/ c and momentum transfers q up to 829 MeV/ c (at p m =90 MeV/ c ). “Experimental” spectral functions were obtained; the transverse one exhibits the free nucleon q -dependence at fixed p m and agrees with microscopic theories; the longitudinal spectral function is low by 30%.

Abstract The dependence on the momentum transfer q for the 6Li (e, e′ d) cross section has been measured. In the 6Li(e, e′ d)4Heg.s. channel, data can be reproduced assuming the reaction as a quasi-elastic deuteron knock-out process, where the 6Li valence nucleons are probed. When the residuum is in the continuum channel, this assumption does not match the data, unless a wave function different from that of a free deuteron is considered for the pair involved in the reaction.
