Automobiles crashes are becoming a source of increasing social concern, which instigates government bodies to impose stringent requirements on vehicle safety. The development of the embedded intelligent safety system (ISS) platform is a difficult task and involves many factors such as generation and interconnection of the hardware that support the execution of software. This paper deals with high-performance computing to detect and monitor frontal vehicle crash using a sensing algorithm which has been embedded in the proposed vehicle safety system for frontal collision. It also describes the mechanism for generating the frontal collisions data using a pneumatic device. The crash characteristics of precision collision, detection algorithm and computational model enhances the sensing algorithm that is embedded for real-time application. The embedded structure is developed based on a hardware platform, a system interface and a software driver. In this work, the artificial crash data generated using the pneumatic device are used for three main purposes. First, it is used to validate the effectiveness of the proposed sensing algorithm. Secondly, we use it to evaluate the performance of the ISS for detection and lastly, we use the data to monitor the effectiveness of the developed embedded safety in an automotive application.

This paper deals with the modeling of synchronous static compensator (STATCOM) of a power system based on dynamic phasor model to investigate the performance of STATCOM for power quality analysis and compared with EMTP like simulation. The dynamic phasor model and EMT model of the STATCOM including the system is implemented in Matlab/Simulink toolbox and PSCAD/EMTDC, respectively. Details dynamic phasor model of STATCOM switching function and its control system has been presented. A credible solution to the power quality problems on the distribution network has been analyzed using dynamic phasor model and EMTP like PSCAD/EMTDC simulation techniques. The simulation results demonstrated that the dynamic phasor model of STATCOM including the system makes an excellent agreement with the detailed time-domain EMT model of PSCAD/EMTDC simulation. It is found that the dynamic behavior of STATCOM phasor model have very good potential application in analyzing power quality issues, faster in speed and higher accuracy as compared with PSCAD/EMTDC simulation.

Software Defined Radio (SDR) based tools of identification may increase with the diffusion of frequency agnostic modes of radio frequency identification (RFID). Similarly, fixed frequency readers may be replaced with interrogators that can operate in any frequency. SDR is a feasible solution for RFID signal, which can perform different functions at different times on the same hardware. Pilot Symbol Assisted Modulation (PSAM) is a good method to compensate for the channel fading effect in wireless mobile communications. In this paper, we first build up a SDR simulation including coding, modulation, Rayleigh fading, decoding and demodulation with match filter. Then, we test the effect of channel model to the RFID signal in receiver with constellation and BER (bit error rate) plots under PSAM.

Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is currently the hottest technology in wireless applications area. Its unique advantages such as data transmission with extreme low power or even without power in tag can be the biggest beneficial for goods management. Software Defined Radio (SDR) is a wireless communications system where all of the signal processing is implemented in software. By simply downloading a new program, a software radio is able to interoperate with different wireless protocols, incorporate new services, and upgrade to new standards. In this paper, we build an RFID application simulation environment over the SDR. We do the source to sink transmission simulation by using Quadrature Amplitude Modulation, Then, we compare the differences of BER versus SNR performances for input and output signals.

The vehicles being operated without tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) is posing a significant safety problem. To solve the problems, number researches have been widely investigated. However, factors of limitation described in introduction are still the major concern. Hence, the appropriate systems of TPMS are still being investigated. This paper deals with development of TPMS that contributes significantly towards the enhancement of the intelligent vehicle safety application. A detailed overview on tire pressure monitor (TPM) and receiver modules development such as data acquisition, communication protocol, Manchester encoding algorithm and interface programme are demonstrated. The performance evaluation of the experimental results of the TPMS shows that data acquisition, complete messages of pressure and temperature and real-time monitoring are unique and advance. Thus, the experimental result is therefore ensures the data monitoring and provides warning to validate the usefulness of the TPMS system in maintaining and enhancing vehicle performance.
