Infrared Fourier spectra and spectra in the range of subterahertz frequencies (sub-THz) for the vapor phase over solid samples of high explosives (technical trinitrotoluene, nitroglycerine, and hexogen) were studied experimentally. The results from identifying products of the natural decay of high explosives by infrared Fourier and sub-THz spectroscopy are compared.

Laser methods of detecting vapor explosives in the open atmosphere: Analytical possibilities for counteracting terrorist acts

A. I. Karapuzikov; Sh. Sh. Nabiev; A. I. Nadezhdinskii; Yu. N. Ponomarev

Analytical possibilities of methods for recording vapor-phase explosives in the atmosphere, based on diode lasers, laser optics-acoustic spectroscopy, and Raman spectroscopy are considered. At present, these methods are the most sensitive and informative among laser-optical methods of recording trace amounts of vapor-phase matters in the atmosphere. Particular attention is paid to the possibility of building a complex system for detection and identification of explosives in the open atmosphere, located on a telecontrol platform, and including laser gas-analyzers of different types.

Investigation of broadening and shift of vapour absorption lines of H{sub 2}{sup 16}O in the frequency range 7184 – 7186 cm{sup -1}

A. I. Nadezhdinskii; A A Pereslavtseva; Ya. Ya. Ponurovskii

We present the results of investigation of water vapour absorption spectra in the 7184 – 7186 cm-1 range that is of particular interest from the viewpoint of possible application of the data obtained for monitoring water vapour in the Earths stratosphere. The doublet of H216O near ν = 7185.596 cm-1 is analysed. The coefficients of broadening and shift of water vapour lines are found in the selected range in mixtures with buffer gases and compared to those obtained by other authors.
