We report on a measurement of the {Upsilon}(1S+2S+3S){yields}e{sup +}e{sup -} cross section at midrapidity in p+p collisions at {radical}(s)=200 GeV. We find the cross section to be 114{+-}38(stat+fit){sub -24}{sup +23}(syst) pb. Perturbative QCD calculations at next-to-leading order in the color evaporation model are in agreement with our measurement, while calculations in the color singlet model underestimate it by 2{sigma}. Our result is consistent with the trend seen in world data as a function of the center-of-mass energy of the collision and extends the availability of {Upsilon} data to RHIC energies. The dielectron continuum in the invariant-mass range near the {Upsilon} is also studied to obtain a combined yield of e{sup +}e{sup -} pairs from the sum of the Drell-Yan process and b-b production.

We report new results on identified (anti)proton and charged pion spectra at large transverse momenta (3<p{sub T}<10 GeV/c) from Cu+Cu collisions at sq root(s{sub NN})=200 GeV using the STAR detector at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC). This study explores the system size dependence of two novel features observed at RHIC with heavy ions: the hadron suppression at high-p{sub T} and the anomalous baryon to meson enhancement at intermediate transverse momenta. Both phenomena could be attributed to the creation of a new form of QCD matter. The results presented here bridge the system size gap between the available pp and Au+Au data, and allow for a detailed exploration of the onset of the novel features. Comparative analysis of all available 200 GeV data indicates that the system size is a major factor determining both the magnitude of the hadron spectra suppression at large transverse momenta and the relative baryon to meson enhancement.

We report J/psi spectra for transverse momenta P-T > 5 GeV/c at mid-rapidity in p + p and Au + Au collisions at root s(NN) = 200 GeV. The inclusive J/psi spectrum and the extracted B-hadron feed-down are compared to models incorporating different production mechanisms. We observe significant suppression of the J/psi yields for p(T) > 5 GeV/c in 0-30% central Au + Au collisions relative to the p + p yield scaled by the number of binary nucleon-nucleon collisions in Au + Au collisions. In 30-60% mid-central collisions, no such suppression is observed. The level of suppression is consistently less than that of high-p(T) pi(+/-) and low-p(T) J/psi at RHIC and high-p(T) J/psi at the LHC

We report a new STAR measurement of the longitudinal double-spin asymmetry A(LL) for inclusive jet production at midrapidity in polarized p + p collisions at a center-of-mass energy of sqrt[s]=200 GeV. The data, which cover jet transverse momenta 5<p(T)<30 GeV/c, are substantially more precise than previous measurements. They provide significant new constraints on the gluon spin contribution to the nucleon spin through the comparison to predictions derived from one global fit to polarized deep-inelastic scattering measurements.

Spin alignment measurements of the K*{sup 0}(892) and {phi}(1020) vector mesons in heavy ion collisions at {radical}(s{sub NN})=200 GeV

We present the first spin alignment measurements for the K*{sup 0}(892) and {phi}(1020) vector mesons produced at midrapidity with transverse momenta up to 5 GeV/c at {radical}(s{sub NN})=200 GeV at RHIC. The diagonal spin-density matrix elements with respect to the reaction plane in Au+Au collisions are {rho}{sub 00}=0.32{+-}0.04 (stat) {+-} 0.09 (syst) for the K*{sup 0} (0.8<p{sub T}<5.0 GeV/c) and {rho}{sub 00}=0.34{+-}0.02 (stat) {+-} 0.03 (syst) for the {phi} (0.4<p{sub T}<5.0 GeV/c) and are constant with transverse momentum and collision centrality. The data are consistent with the unpolarized expectation of 1/3 and thus no evidence is found for the transfer of the orbital angular momentum of the colliding system to the vector-meson spins. Spin alignments for K*{sup 0} and {phi} in Au+Au collisions were also measured with respect to the particles production plane. The {phi} result, {rho}{sub 00}=0.41{+-}0.02 (stat) {+-} 0.04 (syst), is consistent with that in p+p collisions, {rho}{sub 00}=0.39{+-}0.03 (stat) {+-} 0.06 (syst), also measured in this work. The measurements thus constrain the possible size of polarization phenomena in the production dynamics of vector mesons.

G.; Elhalhuli, E.; Emelianov, V.; Engelage, J.; Eppley, G.; Erazmus, B.; Estienne, M.; Eun, L. | Abstract: We report the measurement of Gamma and Gamma bar yields and inverse slope parameters in d+Au collisions at sqrt sNN = 200 GeV at forward and backward rapidities (y = +-2.75), using data from the STAR forward time projection chambers. The contributions of different processes to baryon transport and particle production are probed exploiting the inherent asymmetry of the d+Au system. Comparisons to model calculations show that baryon transport on the deuteron side is consistent with multiple collisions of the deuteron nucleons with gold participants. On the gold side, HIJING-based models without a hadronic rescattering phase do not describe themeasured particle yields, while models that include target remnants or hadronic rescattering do. The multichain model can provide a good description of the net baryon density in d+Au collisions at energies currently available at the BNL Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider, and the derived parameters of the model agree with those from nuclear collisions at lower energies.
