An improved method of closed irrigation-suction system for treatment of bone and joint infections is considered essential for the prevention of obstruction of the tube. Crisscross flow-reversal system with double tubes was used. Furthermore, channel changer system for the reversal flow was made. Among 172 treated cases, 148 (86.0%) were successful, 7 cases (4.1%) were improved, and 17 cases (9.9%) were failures. Electric detector for the leak of the solution was made.

A 11-year-old female had complained of swelling and pain of left humerus after inversion. Roentgenograms revealed pathological fracture and an enlarged cystic lesion in the humerus head. We followed up the healing of fracture with sling for 8 weeks, and the patient entered our hospital on the purpuse of treatment of the cyst.We made bone biopsy for diagnosis of cyst, and it was diagnosed as solitary bone cyst. But on the operation the cyst contained bloody fluid. The cyst was curetted and grafted with bone tips collected from her iliac bone. Finally, it was diagnosed as aneurysmal bone cyst.

The distal tibial epiphyses may be damaged, when the ankles are injured in children.Injuries involving the epiphyseal plate present special problems in diagnosis and management. In our clinic, we have experienced fifteen injuries of the ankles during past ten years. In eleven of these ankles, epiphyseal plates were injured. These were classified according to the Salter-Harris method. The second type was eight, the fourth type was two and the degloving injury one.The second type produced by abduction injuries were easily reduced by the manipulation and the prognosis of this type was good. The fourth type produced by adduction injuries must be reduced exactly by the operation. In this type, growth plate damages were common and progressive deformities were occured. The degloving injury removed the perichondrial ring and permitted bony bridging between the epiphysis and metaphysis. In this type, varus deformity was occured by the bone bridge.
