dentulousness paired with severe andibular bone loss continues to be a hallenge for implant dentists. Ridge augentation with autogenous bone requires ajor surgery. Distraction osteogenesis DO), by contrast, regenerates the local one stock with all of its genetic deterinants. It is thus tantamount to targeted ioengineering of the region of interest. Results of the Standard MONO Endoistractor in 44 patients treated between id-2003 and early 2010 are presented. heir mean age was 61 (61 + 8.66) years ith a first peak prior to age 50 and he bulk of the patients beyond age 60 ears. The sex distribution showed a ajor imbalance in favor of females (40 emales versus 4 males). Targeted distracion (9.2 mm; 4–13) of edentulous highly trophic mandibles was followed by the lacement of 4 interforaminal implants and mplant-supported prosthodontic rehabiltation. Mono endodistraction is a new pproach to DO: Mid-bone placement of butment-like distractor; distraction screw n basal cortical bone; negligible tilting 3.38 + 2.33◦); sealed against saliva and acteria; metal removal without surgery. 52 dental implants were placed supportng custom-milled bars with overdentures r fixed screw-down bridges. The mean ollow-up time was 3 years. Complications like mandibular fracures or infections were reduced to one uarter of those in a first study treated y the TWIN Endo-Distractor. Major bone egeneration was observed during funcional loading even posteriorly. Together ith ridge repair, the vestibulum and the sthetics of the lip and chin were restored. he MINI/MIKRO Endo-Distractor for losing gaps produced promising 1-year esults. Conflict of interest: None declared.
