Sales Forecasting and Coal Mining Planning in the Context of Hard Coal Production Strategies

Aurelia Rybak; A. Manowska

Abstract Polish energy security is based mainly on a coal. Such dependency will be still maintained for several years. It is therefore necessary to improve the economic situation of polish mining companies. The mining companies in Poland are operating under tremendous uncertainty of turbulent environment. The article presents used by the authors methods to facilitate the creation and selection of optimal production strategy. These are scenario planning, forecasting and linear programming, which allow the simulation of company operations in the future. The authors suggest the most successful and optimal forecasting models for the Polish mining industry, as well as factors affecting the demand for hard coal in Poland. The manuscript presents also possible to apply coal production strategies and the method of evaluation and selection of optimal strategy in the difficult conditions of Polish mining companies environment. This makes it possible to take a decision burdened with minor errors and less risk.

The Method of Assessing Rock Bursting Hazard in Mining

A. Manowska

The article discusses a concept of forecasting accident risk during longwall extraction in crump-risk conditions. In Polish mines rock burst hazard can be described as high compared to other mines around the world. Its related to increase of depth of longwall field operation, preparation works, including drilling of mine face pavements which leads to systematic deterioration of geological and mining conditions. Depletion of coal is also the reason why mines operate in high mining tremor risk conditions. Mines more and more often operate in decks, where there is large number of edges and remains of older decks. Rocks bursts still remain one of the most dangerous natural hazards and therefore are fundamental problem and have the greatest impact on safety in mining industry. The proposed method for forecasting accidents and losses in people and goods can contribute to improvement of work organization methods and mine safety management system. Assessment of the Effectiveness the Use of Spectral Analysis in Forecasting Of Sales Quantity of Hard Coal.

M. Popczyk; A. Manowska; R. Jendruś

Coal will be a cheaper alternative than natural gas, and oil to generate electricity in many regions, but in the long term essential for determining the future will accepted strategies to improve efficiency, reduce air pollution at the local level and mitigating the effects of climate change. Currently, the Ministry of Economy is preparing an update Polish Energy Policy until 2050. The new document will consider the most important elements in the energy sector such as min. use of gas from unconventional sources, climate challenges, the construction of a common energy market in the European Union or the use of European funds in the new financial perspective 2014-2020. Sales forecasting coal is the subject of this paper, is a problem whose solution should look for today. This paper presents a prediction method that can be used to solve specific problems of forecasting sales volumes of coal, which is the result of logical conclusions following areas: mining, predictive theory, energy security and social security.
