Proposal on the measurements of d–p elastic scattering analyzing powers at 0.3–2.0 GeV at the Internal Target Station of the Nuclotron

A new high-energy beam polarimeter is proposed for Nuclotron, which uses the Internal Target Station (ITS). This polarimeter based on a measurement of asymmetry for the d–p elastic scattering will allow one to measure simultaneously both vector and tensor components of deuteron beam polarization. For this purpose an analyzing powers measurement for the d–p elastic scattering at energies T d = 0.88–2 GeV is proposed. The precise measurements of the deuteron analyzing powers over the energy range T d = 300–2000 MeV can give an irreplaceable clue to the study of the spin dependence of three nucleon forces.

Measurement of the vector and tensor analyzing powers for dp-elastic scattering at 880 MeV

The vectorAy and tensor analyzing powers Ayy andAxx for dpelastic scattering were measured at T lab d = 880 MeV over the c.m. angular range from 60 ◦ to 140 at the JINR Nuclotron. The data are compared with prediction s of different theoretical models based on the use of nucleon-nucleon forces only. The observed disc repancies of the measured analyzing powers from the calcula tions require the consideration of additional mechanisms. PACS: 24.70.+s, 25.10. +s, 21.45. +v

The 270 MeV deuteron beam polarimeter at the Nuclotron Internal Target Station

A deuteron beam polarimeter has been constructed at the Internal Target Station at the Nuclotron of JINR. The polarimeter is based on spin-asymmetry measurements in the d − p elastic scattering at large angles and the deuteron kinetic energy of 270 MeV. It allows to measure vector and tensor components of the deuteron beam polarization simultaneously.

New polarimeter based on the asymmetry measurement in dp-elastic scattering has been constructed at internal target at Nuclotron (JINR). The result on the deuteron analyzing powers Ay, Ayy and Axx in the deuteron-proton (dp) elastic scattering at the energies of 880 and 2000 MeV are presented. They are compared with different theoretical approaches.

The review of the recent results on spin effects in few nucleon systems obtained at LHEP-JINR are presented. The data on the deuteron analyzing powers in different reactions in the wide energy range demonstrate the sensitivity to the spin structure of the light nuclei. The future plans on the studies with polarized deuterons from new polarized ion source at Nuclotron will be reported.

Recent results on the deuteron analyzing powers obtained in collisions of polarized deuterons with protons and light nuclei at intermediate and high energies are reported. The obtained results are sensitive to the spin structure of the short range correlations. The prospects of the spin program for hadronic reactions at Nuclotron-NICA facility is discussed. The polarimetry developments are also presented.

We have searched for an enhancement in the excitation function of the yield of pions in the pion production reaction by protons and deutrons at bombarding energies near 350 MeV/nucleon. The measurements was carried out on the JINR Nuclotron internal beam and target in March and June 2004 Nuclotron Runs for Ag, Cu, Al and C targets.

Analyzing powers measurement Ay, Ayy and Axx for the d - p elastic scattering were performed at the Internal Target Station of Nuclotron at JINR at Ed = 880 and 2000 MeV. These data are necessary to obtain the information on the 3NF structure and the relativistic effects. They are also important for development of the efficient deuteron beam polarimetry at high energies. The results of the analyzing powers at Ed = 880 MeV covered the angular range from 60 to 140° in the c.m.s. are compared with several theoretical calculations. The preliminary data on the analyzing powers measurement Ay, Ayy at Ed = 2000 MeV are discussed.

A high‐energy deuteron beam polarimeter based on the d‐p elastic scattering at backward angles has been constructed at Internal Target Station of Nuclotron at JINR. Calibration measurement of the analyzing powers Ay, Ayy, and Axx with polarized deuteron beams at 0.88 and 2.0 GeV was performed.

The data on the vector Ay and tensor Ayy, Axx, Axz analyzing powers for the and reactions at Ed = 200 and 270 MeV are presented. The data demonstrate large values of analyzing powers and their strong variation versus the scattering angle. The observed negative sign of the tensor analyzing powers for these reactions at small angles clearly demonstrate the sensitivity to the D/S ratio of the 3H and 3He wave functions, respectively. The calculations performed within one-nucleon exchange model with the use of the standard three-nucleon bound state wave functions fail to reproduce the data on the tensor analyzing powers.
