The influence of non-stoichiometry on the temperature dependence of the magnetic a.c. susceptibility of UCo2 is studied. The deviation from the Pauli paramagnetism behaviour is verified and explained through the existence of magnetic clusters.

The magnetic susceptibility of the amorphous CoxPd80−xSi20 alloys near the critical temperature was measured in external magnetic fields up to 350 Oe. It was shown that the observed dependences χ(T) can be explained using the model of a heterogenous amorphous ferromagnet.

Abstract The magnetic susceptibility of amorphous GdxPd82−xSi18 (0.5 ⩽ x ⩽ 3 at.%) alloys was measured in the temperature range from 4.2 to 300 K in magnetic fields up to 1.3×107 A/m. It was found that this material does not show ferromagnetic properties, but shows a large value of the susceptibility which is practically independent of temperature.
