Exploratory Study of Internet Banking Technology Adoption

Hema Date; Rahmath Safeena; Abdullah Kammani

Internet has brought significant impact on the way people conduct life in the present-day scenario. In this premise the Indian economy has experienced rapid growth over the last decade, developing Internet Banking Technology IBT for transforming the traditional lines of banking. This shift has brought profound challenges and opportunities to both bank and its customers. Customers have found in IBT a new ease to do the financial transaction. Review of these literatures indicates that there are not many studies on IBT Adoption in Indian scenario. The review shows that existing study on IBT adoption in Indian context has shown little evidence of an integrated model for IBT Adoption. This indicates that a comprehensive research in the area of IBT adoption under Indian context is very much limited. This research attempts to analyse existing technology adoption theories for formulating an integrated framework to investigate the factors of IBT adoption in India.

Abdullah Kammani; Sultan Aljahdali; Hema Date

Organisational knowledge management (KM) capability is developed to allow companies to share, create and disseminate their organisational knowledge resources. The paradigm shift from traditional business to information communication technology (ICT) enabled business, brought fundamental changes in business environment. Rapidly changing technology is a key feature of software industry and it may be easier for organisations to manage these changes if they develop their KM capability. However, this is not easy since most organisations in the Indian software industry compete for the same customers with knowledge worker from the same pool. In this paper, a generic model of a KM capability is proposed. This framework is used to analyse the KM capability in Indian software firms. The case study illustrates and highlights the benefits and advantages of establishing a KM capability. The results from the case study showed that KM capability is an imperative for software development. The study also suggests few recommendations that may be used to guide the development of KM capability elsewhere. This studys limitations and suggestions for future research are also discussed.

A review of Quranic computation for e-learning

Abdullah Kammani; Rahmath Safeena

Noble Qur’an is the central religious text of Islam. Any computational effort on this text for its learning and understanding is known as Quranic computation. This effort of benefit to billions of people around the world. This study reviews various researches or applications of Quranic computation. Almost all of the applications or researches on this focus were done for e-learning of the Noble Quran. Reports based on different research projects from 1997 to 2011 were collected, classified and categorised. This review explores how research on Quranic computation has evolved and in which directions it needs to be focused for the best e-learning solution. It was noticed that Quranic computation evolved from two distinct complementary directions of studies: 1) general Arabic; 2) Quranic Arabic. Analysis of computation of Quranic Arabic for e-learning reveals few research gaps and suggests some future directions in the field.

Evaluation of E-Technology acceptance: an empirical analysis

Rahmath Safeena; Abdullah Kammani

Different types of technology are emerging in the new era of computing especially the E-Technology and its adoption is considered to be an important issue among the consumers. E-technology has developed into an unavoidable technology among the internet consumers. E-Technology considered in this study includes Technology used for E-Commerce, E-Services and E-Business application. This study investigates the influence of Perceived Benefit (PB), Perceived Impediment (PI), and Social Influence (SI) on E-Technology adoption. Questionnaire survey is used for getting the data and empirical analysis is done. The Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 12 was used for computation. As expected, the results have supported the hypothesis that perceived benefit and social influence have positive effect on the use of E-Technology and perceived impediments have negative effect on the use of E-Technology. The results of the regression analysis conducted on the factors indicate that PB, PI and SI on E-Technology were found to be the most influential factors explaining the use of E-Technology services. The result shows that perceived impediment is negatively related to the adoption of E-Technology use which supports the hypothesis and is in line with the previous studies. The finding refers to the fact that consumers use E-Technology for the benefits and also due to its easiness in use which provides in comparison to other service delivery channels. Social Influence has positive effect on the use of E-Technology as the individuals think that using the advanced technology will improve his image and status in the society. Customers are not ready to take any risk on using the new system and hence impediments show negative significance. Any organization which adopts E-Technology for their day-to-day activities can show their conveniences in their promotional and advertising activities. Organizations also need to engage in security enhancement activities such as encryption, firewall, and user protection and authenticity. Trust is one of the more influential factors, implying that controlling the risk of online data is more important than providing benefits. This finding is particularly important for managers as they decide how to allocate resources to retain and expand their current customer base. However, building a risk-free online environment is much more difficult than providing benefits to customers. Therefore, companies need to search for risk-reducing strategies that might assist in inspiring high confidence in potential customers. The proposed model makes an important contribution to the emerging literature on e-commerce, especially with regard to E-Technology adoption. This study was conducted in a particular region and generalization of the result will have some shortcomings as with any other research. Hence, the replication of this study on a wider scale with more customers across geographical and cultural boundaries is essential for the further generalization of the findings. By using a longitudinal study in the future, we could investigate our research model in different time periods and make comparisons, thus providing more insight into the phenomenon of online banking adoption.
