A gothic motif in Spanish literature: monstrosity in Spanish fiction from Benito Pérez Galdós's Ángel Guerra (1891) to Javier García Sánchez's Ella, Drácula (2005)

This article reflects upon some narrative strategies and authorial choices in Spanish texts which include either physical or moral monsters or both; these are intended as case studies that may shed light on what such literary creations contribute to attitudes to monstrosity and its function in Spanish literature from the nineteenth century to the present day.
