Model of four-point method for measuring resistance of the anti-static coatings

Adam Jakubas; Lech Borowik

In the paper, mathematical models for determination of resistivity of thin antistatic coatings are presented. The models are combination of the classic four-point method and the method of images. Models 2D and 3D are taken into considerations. In both cases are analyzed the parameters of measuring system and coating layer for example: the relations between the sample size and the distance between the electrode set and the edge of the sample; thickness of the coating; type of the substrate layer. Optimization of the parameters of the system has to allow using much simpler formulas for infinite flat object.

A study on application of the ribbing stitch as sensor of respiratory rhythm in smart clothing designed for infants

Adam Jakubas; Ewa Łada-Tondyra

Abstract The development of textronic and miniaturization of textile sensors allow them to be used as elements of an innovative system for measuring the vital functions of young children. One of the important functions of this system is the measurement of respiratory rhythm, which is based on the variations in the resistance of a knitted fabric made of electrically conductive strands, integrated into baby underwear. The research presented in this article was carried out in order to select the optimum type of stitch used for knitting. The tests were carried out on five samples made of different types of stitches. The resistance studies of individual samples were performed during their operation. The selection of suitable stitches for stability and reliability of measurements was made. In the second stage of the study, two samples selected on the basis of stage 1 were subjected to continuous cycles of 5 h. Based on this two-step analysis, a stitch selection was made.

Textile sensors used in smart clothing to monitor the vital functions of young children

Adam Jakubas; Ewa Lada-Tondyra; Marcjan Nowak

The textile sensors described in the paper are part of the textronic system developed to monitor vital functions of infants and small children - BabyTex. The system enables one to carry out remote monitoring of respiratory rhythm, moisture, body temperature and motoric activity of infants and young children using smart underwear. The article focused on the parameters and measurements results of the designed textronic sensors.
