Stephan Quensel, is a professor at the Institute for Drug Research at the University of Bremen, Germany. As one of the leading protagonists of current critical debate on drug policy he has been involved in research, publication and lecturing on drug issues. This book is aimed at sociologists, social work researchers and practitioners, psychologists, and those interested in drug policy. The author discusses school-based drug prevention from a sociological perspective. In the first part of the book he fundamentally challenges current theory, policy and practice of drug prevention and then goes on to outline the features of a new approach to prevention. Quensel structures his arguments around the following ten theses:
