Mimosa caesalpiniaefolia Benth. is a native species from Northeast region, Brazil, which is cultivated progressively from Maranhao to Rio de Janeiro States. Its presents great potential for arborization, it surrounds it lives and wood production. The present work was realizated with Mimosa caesalpiniaefolia seeds with the objective to determine the substratum type, temperature, the middle time and the relative frequency of germination, for use as a pattern in the conduction of germination and vigor tests. It took place an experiment in the Laboratorio de Analise de Sementes do CCA-UFPB, in Areia-PB, in completely randomized design with the treatments distributed in outline factorial 4x4, temperatures (constant of 20, 25 and 30oC and alternate of 20-30oC) and substrate (seeds cowered by paper shits, seeds on paper sheets, seeds into sand and seeds into vermiculite) in four replications of 25 seeds. The following parameters were analyzed: germination and of abnormal seedlings (%) first germination count, germination speed, medium time and relative frequency of germination, fresh matter and weight of dry matter of seedlings. According the results in all substrates the temperature of 25oC was most adequate for conduction of germination and vigor tests for Mimosa caesalpiniaefolia seeds. For all temperatures utilized the best germination was observed when the seed were sowed covered bay paper shits.

An experiment was conducted, from October 2009 to February 2010, in a greenhouse of the Soil and Rural Engineering Department from CCA – UFPB, Areia – PB, to evaluate the influence of the irrigation water salinity in the initial growth of the cherry tomatoes in a non-saline soil with and without two types of bovine biofertilizer. The experimental design was completely randomized in factorial scheme 5 x 3, with six repetitions, referring to values of electrical conductivity of the irrigation water: 0.5; 1.0; 2.0; 3.0 and 4.0 dS m-1 , in the soil without biofertilizer, with ordinary biofertilizer and enriched with milk, molasses, agricultural gypsum. The biofertilizers after dilution in non-saline water (0.5 dS m-1) in the ratio of 1:1 were applied only once, two days before sowing, equivalent to 10% of the substrate volume. The biofertilizers provided higher growth of plants regarding the soil without the respective inputs, regardless of water salinity level. The addition of ordinary biofertilizer and the enriched compost raised the saline character of soil more than under saline water only, but no significant difference were observed.

An experiment was conducted at the Universidade Federal Rural do Semi-arid in Mossoro, RN with the aim of evaluating the behavior of cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L. race latifolium Hatch) 8H cultivar, in terms of growth when irrigated with treated domestic sewage. The experimental design was in randomized blocks with split plots and in plots were tested dilutions of wastewater [25% - T1, 50% - T2, 75% - T3 and 100% of wastewater - T4 and supply water with mineral fertilizer - T5] in two soils of contrasting textures. Irrigation with wastewater significantly influenced the growth of cotton plants, the rate of emergence, the germination percentage, plant height, stem diameter and leaf area, growing linearly until an optimal dose, as the proportion of use of domestic effluent. The positive effect of the accumulation of nutrient in soil applied by fertigation on the variables studied is also highlighted. The irrigation with treated wastewater can offset conventional fertilization of cotton.
