This paper investigates the steady hydromagnetic three-dimensional boundary layer flow of Maxwell fluid over a bidirectional stretching surface. Both cases of prescribed surface temperature (PST) and prescribed surface heat flux (PHF) are considered. Computations are made for the velocities and temperatures. Results are plotted and analyzed for PST and PHF cases. Convergence analysis is presented for the velocities and temperatures. Comparison of PST and PHF cases is given and examined.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to analyze the melting heat transfer in the stagnation-point flow with double-diffusive convection. Design/methodology/approach – Series solutions for velocity, temperature and concentration are constructed via homotopy analysis method. Findings – The authors observed that the behaviors of N, ?2 and M on the velocity and boundary layer thickness are qualitatively similar. Further, for A 1 then the velocity profile increases but the boundary layer thickness decreases when A is increased. Originality/value – This analysis has not been discussed in the literature previously.

Flow of viscoelastic fluid due to an impermeable stretching cylinder is discussed. Effects of mixed convection and variable thermal conductivity are present. Thermal conductivity is taken temperature dependent. Nonlinear partial differential system is reduced into the nonlinear ordinary differential system. Resulting nonlinear system is computed for the convergent series solutions. Numerical values of skin friction coefficient and Nusselt number are computed and discussed. The results obtained with the current method are in agreement with previous studies using other methods as well as theoretical ideas. Physical interpretation reflecting the contribution of influential parameters in the present flow is presented. It is hoped that present study serves as a stimulus for modeling further stretching flows especially in polymeric and paper production processes.

In this paper, we have investigated the combined effects of Newtonian heating and internal heat generation/absorption in the two-dimensional flow of Eyring-Powell fluid over a stretching surface. The governing non-linear analysis of partial differential equations is reduced into the ordinary differential equations using similarity transformations. The resulting problems are computed for both series and numerical solutions. Series solution is constructed using homotopy analysis method (HAM) whereas numerical solution is presented by two different techniques namely shooting method and bvp4c. A comparison of homotopy solution with numerical solution is also tabulated. Both solutions are found in an excellent agreement. Dimensionless velocity and temperature profiles are plotted and discussed for various emerging physical parameters.

This paper is devoted to the global exponential and fixed-time synchronization of delayed reaction-diffusion Cohen–Grossberg neural networks. Adaptive controllers are designed such that the addressed system can realize global exponential synchronization goal under the framework of inequality techniques, Lyapunov method as well as some suitable assumptions. Furthermore, as corollaries, the corresponding conclusion is provided to ensure the delayed Cohen–Grossberg neural networks without reaction-diffusion term can reach fixed-time synchronization goal. In addition, the settling time of fixed-time synchronization can be adjusted to desired values regardless of initial conditions, which is more reasonable. Finally, two numerical examples and its simulations are given to show the effectiveness of the obtained results.

Unsteady flow of nanofluids squeezed between two parallel plates is discussed in the presence of viscous dissipation. Heat transfer phenomenon is disclosed via convective boundary conditions. Carbon nanotubes (single-wall and multi-wall) are used as nanoparticles which are homogeneously distributed in the base fluid (water). A system of non-linear differential equations for the flow is obtained by utilizing similarity transformations through the conservation laws. Influence of various emerging parameters on the velocity and temperature profiles are sketched graphically and discussed comprehensively. Analyses of skin fraction coefficient and Nusselt number are also elaborated numerically. It is found out that velocity is smaller for squeezing parameter in the case of multi-wall carbon nanotubes when compared with single-wall carbon nanotubes.

ABSTRACT This paper mainly focuses on further improved stability analysis of state estimation for neutral-type neural networks with both time-varying delays and leakage delay via sampled-data control by delay-partitioning approach. Instead of the continuous measurement, the sampled measurement is used to estimate the neuron states and a sampled-data estimator is constructed. To fully use the sawtooth structure characteristics of the sampling input delay, sufficient conditions are derived such that the system governing the error dynamics is asymptotically stable. The design method of the desired state estimator is proposed. We construct a suitable Lyapunov–Krasovskii functional (LKF) with triple and quadruple integral terms then by using a novel free-matrix-based integral inequality (FMII) including well-known integral inequalities as special cases. Moreover, the design procedure can be easily achieved by solving a set of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs), which can be easily facilitated by using the standard numerical software. Finally, two numerical examples are given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed results.

The purpose of present article is to examine the peristaltic flow of Jeffrey fluid in a curved channel. An electrically conducting fluid in the presence of radial applied magnetic field is considered. Analysis of heat and mass transfer is carried out. More generalized realistic constraints namely the convective conditions are utilized. Soret and Dufour effects are retained. Problems formulation is given for long wavelength and low Reynolds number assumptions. The expressions of velocity, temperature, heat transfer coefficient, concentration and stream function are computed. Effects of emerging parameters arising in solutions are analyzed in detail. It is found that velocity is not symmetric about centreline for curvature parameter. Also maximum velocity decreases with an increase in the strength of magnetic field. Further it is noticed that Soret and Dufour numbers have opposite behavior for temperature and concentration.
