Coastal wave erosion along the arid karst region of southern Java, Indonesia has produced residual landforms such as cliffs and marine notches. The aims of our study were (1) to create profiles of marine notches in the Baron coastal area, Yogyakarta Province and (2) to explain the evolution process of marine notches in the research area. Field measurements using a laser distance meter produced profiles of three marine notches; one profile of a double notch formation was identified at a location farthest from the shoreline and two profiles of a single notch formation were identified closer to the shoreline. The vertical positions of the two single-notch formations are at the same elevation, while the double-notch formation is at a lower elevation. Several joints and displacements in the limestone material generated by an uplifting process are believed to be the main cause of this unconformity.

Merapi volcano is one of the active volcanoes in the world that located on the border of two provinces of Yogyakarta and Central Java. After the eruption of Merapi Volcano in 2010, lava dome of Merapi Volcano change towards the south area of the volcano. Glagaharjo village is the closest area in the south area from the dome of the crater of Merapi. Due to this condition, Glagaharjo village has the highest vulnerability. This study aimed to identify strategies to improve preparedness as social capital to face the volcanic eruption of Merapi. The method that use is literature study, field observation, and deep interview related to social capital for preparedness to face the disaster of Merapi volcano. The kind of social capital in Glagah Harjo village demonstrated through the cooperation of the community and schools on the southern area of Merapi Volcano formed as sekolah paseduluran. Sekolah paseduluran is one of the disaster risk reduction efforts based on educational system at the school start from elementary until high school. Perubahan iklim telah menjadi permasalahan global yang dampaknya diperkirakan sangat mengkhawatirkan bagi kehidupan manusia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dampak perubahan iklim terhadap curah hujan tahunan di DAS Progo Hulu. Metode yang digunakan adalah analisis perubahan iklim menggunakan Skenario iklim HadCM3 dengan skenario emisi A2 dan B2. Data curah hujan eksisting di wilayah kajian (meliputi 10 stasiun meteorologi) akan dianalisis menggunakan statistik downscalling dengan hasil pemodelan dalam skenario iklim dan emisi yang digunakan dalam penelitianini. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemodelan perubahan iklim dengan menggunakan skenario emisi A2 menunjukkan 4 stasiun meteorologi menunjukkan jumlah curah hujan tahunan mengalami tren menurun, sedangkan 6 stasiun yang lain mengalami kenaikan. Hasil pemodelan dengan skenario emisi B2 menunjukkan hanya 2 stasiun yang mengalami penurunan curah hujan, sedangkan 8 stasiun yang lain di DAS Progo Hulu mengalami trend kenaikan curah hujan tahunan.

Air merupakan kebutuhan yang sangat penting bagi manusia. Sayangnya, seringkali air tidak tersedia dengan jumlah dan kualitas yang cukup di suatu wilayah. Mataair dan sungai bawah tanah di kawasan karst memiliki peranan yang sangat strategis dalam penyediaan air bersih khususnya air minum. Penelitian ini berusaha untuk melakukan analisis kuantitas dan kualitas air di Sungai Bawah Tanah Ngancar di Kecamatan Karangmojo, Kabupaten Gunungkidul untuk keperluan air minum. Parameter yang dianalisis meliputi bau, rasa, derajat keasaman (pH), kesadahan, padatan terlarut total, kandungan nitrit, nitrat, klorida dan sulfat. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa Sungai Bawah Tanah Ngancar memiliki debit 0,063 m3/detik pada musim kemarau dan 0,077 m3/detik pada musim penghujan, serta memiliki kualitas yang baik untuk air minum.
