With increasing level of driving automation new requirements regarding reliable power supply for power net components arise. In addition to new fail-operational power nets, appropriate control strategies providing functional power supply at least for the duration of vehicle transition to a safe state (standstill) are required. This paper presents a generic, topology-independent concept for future energy management systems controlling fail-operational power nets for automated driving in both normal and failure cases. Based on predictive runtime energy flow optimization and a 3-level-degradation concept, the energy management system presented in this work allocates the available power net energy resources in a way allowing to bring the vehicle to a standstill at the safest location with the best-suited driving profile and with the maximum of driving comfort. By adapting the control strategy to the current system state, the energy management system enables reliable power supply for power net components and increases the overall energy efficiency.

Zusammenfassung Mit der Einführung des autonomen Fahrens steigen die Anforderungen an Funktionen, die zum Übergang in den sicheren Zustand im Fehlerfall benötigt werden. Dabei spielt das Bordnetz, das eine zuverlässige Energieversorgung sicherstellen soll, für die funktionale Sicherheit eine wichtige Rolle. Der erste Teil dieser Arbeit erklärt neue Anforderungen an Bordnetze sowie eine fehlertolerante Topologie. Zur Steuerung von solchen Bordnetzen werden neue Betriebsstrategien benötigt, die den Betrieb im Normal- und Fehlerfall sicherstellen. Mit dem Einsatz einer prädiktiven und adaptiven Energieverteilung, die in die Antriebssteuerung eingebunden ist, wird eine modellprädiktive Fahrzeugsteuerung mit automatisierter Wahl des Szenarios zum Übergang in den sicheren Zustand realisiert, deren Architektur und Funktionalität beschrieben und anhand Fehlersimulation verifiziert wird.

Reliable power supply for safety-related components is one of the prerequisites for highly and fully automated driving, requiring new fail-operational power net topologies and appropriate control strategies. A model of a predictive and adaptive energy management system based on optimal control theory ensuring reliable power supply for both normal and failure cases will be presented in this paper. Two approaches for solving a mixed-integer energy flow optimization problem using nonlinear and linear programming algorithms and their implementation in MATLAB/Simulink will be proposed. The use of the developed simulation model for energy management systems allows the analysis of power net designs, the validation of safety requirements and the design of system fault reactions. It also serves as a basis for the implementation of the energy management system in real-time applications.
