A latex polymer of styrene-acrylic acid emulsion is used as a template for the synthesis of novel porous nanosilica (PNS) material. TiO(2) is dispersed over PNS by solid state dispersion and the composite materials are characterized by XRD, nitrogen adsorption-desorption isotherms, SEM and TEM measurements. The photocatalytic activities of the composite TiO(2)/PNS catalysts are evaluated for degradation of isoproturon pesticide in water with different parameters under solar light. Furthermore, commercial pesticide solutions containing imidacloprid and phosphamidon were also degraded successfully with the composite system using the same developed conditions for isoproturon degradation. The 5 wt% TiO(2)/PNS is found to be active in the present investigation.

Abstract A series of CuO/ZnO/Al 2 O 3 catalysts were prepared and characterized by TPR, surface area, metal area, XRD and SEM–EDAX analysis. These systems were evaluated in the development of a methanol steam reforming catalyst (MSR). A correlation of activity and stability of MSR catalysts with the Cu/Zn ratio derived by SEM–EDAX analysis is observed. The stable activity of these catalysts is also supported by the method of preparation, low temperature reducibility and the presence of reversibly oxidizable Cu species observed by TPR of fresh and used catalysts.

High activity of cyclohexanone, formaldehyde and ammonia to form 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8-octahydroacridine (OHA) is observed over different classes of zeolites and molecular modeling studies confirm the suitability of HZSM-5 catalyst for selective synthesis of OHA.

Benzene and maleic anhydride react over solid acids, viz. CrO3/Magnesol and SO42-/ZrO2 catalysts to form phthalic anhydride and olefins, which in turn produce phthalate esters as end products. Based on the product distribution, a reaction pathway is proposed.
