Intelligent guidance method for remote consultation systems using history of user's reference

Akihiko Koga; Hirotaka Mizuno; Hiroshi Tsuji; Hiroshi Yajima

Recently, remote consulting service systems along the network are developed. This paper describes the method to guide a user of such a system to the appropriate consultant automatically. The method, firstly, analyzes the history of users references to the information server provided by the system and infers the users needs from the references. Secondly, it assigns an appropriate consultant according to the extracted needs. The needs extraction method is evaluated through an experiment and verified its power of extraction. We also describe some methods to improve the precision of the needs extraction and compare them with the original method.

On Program Transformation with Tupling Technique

Akihiko Koga

In this paper, we construct a theory for an automatic program transformation with tupling technique. We introduce a purely applicative programming language and formalize a problem to find a tuple for transformation of a recursive program written in the language. We discuss the transformation scheme with the tuple given as the solution to the problem and show that the execution efficiency will be improved by the new scheme. Under a certain constraint, we describe the method to find a tuple for a given program.

Study on the models of the collaborative learning systems and proposal to the standardization activities

Akihiko Koga

As a new learning method in global age, the collaborative learning gathers many interests. In collaborative learning, through the discussion among the learners about shared problems, they acquire the skills such as problem finding skills, problem solving skills, self-regulate skills and communication skills. In collaborative learning, the interactions between learners play an important role. To make it easier to design a learning environment where desirable interactions occur, it is necessary to have a description system to express the learning process explicitly. We describe that the description system enables us to develop the tools to design the learning process involving the interactions between learners, and to develop the tools that execute the designed process symbolically to show the feasibility of the process. Finally, we describe that the description system can be used as the basis of the collaborative activity record format standard that is currently being progressed in the collaborative learning technology WG in ISO/IEC JTC1/SC36.
