Abstract The neutron deficient yttrium nuclides, 85 Y, 85 m Y, and 83 Y have been produced by spallation of yttrium oxide with 400 MeV protons. By means of a series of timed daughter isolations the following half-lives have been established: 85 Y: 4·9 ± 0·3 hr, 85 m Y: 2·5 ± 0·1 hr, and 83 Y: 7·5 ± 0·1 mins. An upper limit of 1·5 mins has been set for the half-life of 82 Y and the same value for a possible isomer of 83 Y.

Abstract The half-life of 101Ag has been determined to be 11·2 ± 0·1 min and its formation cross section from naturally occurring Ag with 200 and 400 MeV protons to be 12·4 ± 0·7 and 7·14 ± 0·01 mbarns, respectively, and from In to be 2·24 ± 0·10 and 5·15 ± 0·18 mbarns, respectively, also with 200 and 400 MeV protons.
