Melhoramentos, reaparelhamentos e modernização dos portos brasileiros: a longa e constante espera

The objective of this article is to argue the formation of the Brazilian port system of 1910 (creation of the Federal Inspectorial of the Ports, Rivers and Canals) the 2001 (creation of the Aquatic Way Transport National Agency) detaching the constants initiatives and attempts of improvement, equipment and modernization of the ports. Beyond the introduction and the conclusion, the text is divided in three periods: the beginning of the centralization and the formation of a port national system 1910-1934; b) centralization and planning: equipment and consolidation of a national port system 1934-1990; e) the modernization and privatization of ports 1990-2001. The long one of each period is argued the creation of the diverse responsible agencies for the specific ports, laws and decrees and national ports plans.

O porto de São Francisco do Sul na dinâmica regional catarinense

The objective of this article is to argue for the insertion of the port of Sao Francisco do Sul into the regional dynamics of the state of Santa Catarina with emphasis on the answers given by the port to the specialization, diversification and integration of the states economy. Besides the introduction and final consideration, the text is divided into three parts. The first part examines the construction, the improvements and expansion plans. This topic looks at the frustrated attempts to build the new port, legal concessions, its creation as an organized port, investments made for Petrobras and the state government, and constant bottlenecks in port structure. After that, the port load movement from since the beginning of the 20th century will be presented, as a long term historical series. And finally, an economic history periodization of the port of Sao Francisco do Sul will be presented, beginning in 1908, when the first study for the construction of the new port was carried out.

Formação do Sistema de Comunicações em Santa Catarina: Telefonia (1876-1927)

The following article aims to discuss the addition of telephone services to the communications system in the Brazilian state of Santa Catarina from the installation of the earliest telephones in Desterro in 1876 to the late 1920s. The installation of telephone services is framed within the movement towards modernization combining and overlapping geo-economic layers formed by transport, communications, and electricity services consolidated by state participation, forming regional economic systems. The article is divided into four sections, with the first section offering a brief historical context from the invention of the telephone to its arrival in Brazil, in parallel to the expansion of the telegraph network. The second section narrates the earliest telephone initiatives in Santa Catarina, spanning the period of 1876 to 1907, merging telephone and telegraph services. The third section discusses the fragmented advances made by telephone services from 1907 to 1918, highlighting activities by Grossenbacher & Trinks in Joinville and Florianopolis. Finally, the fourth section analyzes the period of 1918 to 1927, describing the telephone’s limited consolidation in Santa Catarina with the emergence of telephone providers in some of the state’s main cities, but whose services failed to meet the demands of rapid urban expansion.

Marinha mercante e construção naval mexicana e brasileira: a comparação de uma trajetória histórico-econômica

O objetivo deste artigo e descrever e analisar a trajetoria da marinha mercante e da construcao naval Brasileira e Mexicana a partir do final do seculo XIX ate os anos 1970; numa perspectiva da historia economica. O foco principal esta concentrado nos aspectos institucionais, produtivo e politico, com enfase no papel do Estado no incentivo ao desenvolvimento do setor de navegacao. Alem da introducao e das consideracoes finais, o texto esta dividido em tres topicos. O primeiro analisa as diferencas e semelhancas na formacao do sistema de transportes do Mexico e do Brasil. O segundo aborda os diferentes rumos seguidos por ambos os paises no seu processo de formacao do sistema nacional de economia. Por fim, o terceiro analisa especificamente a trajetoria do setor naval entre 1920 ate 1970, destacando o papel do Estado na formulacao de politicas de desenvolvimento na marinha mercante e na construcao naval.

A analise sera feita com base nas unidades microrregionais das Secretarias de Desenvolvimento Regional.

Presença e ausência do Estado na trajetória da indústria da construção naval brasileira - 1959-1989

This article aims to discuss the role of state planning in the setting up, the expansion and the crisis of the heavy shipbuilding industry in Brazil, between 1959 and 1989. The text is divided into five topics. The first discusses the setting up of the heavy marine industry within the political and strategic goals of the Plano de Metas, which is followed by a slowdown between 1963-1966. It ends with the transformation of CMM and of the SUNAMAM in 1969. A period of consolidation then becomes evident, marked by the rapid growth of the naval complex. The latter followed the shipbuilding plans established between 1969 and 1982. In the third topic, we discuss the beginning of the reversal of expectations, caused by the difficulties in meeting the growth goals set in the 1981 and 1982 plans. This is associated with the crisis in SUNAMAM. In the fourth topic, between 1982 and 1989, while SUNAMAM agonized and funding sources grew scarce, the industry enters a downturn route with a partial dismantling of the naval complex. Finally, the text provides a brief comparative history of the Latin American merchant marines and shipbuilding industries.

Estado, crédito e planejamento no desempenho da indústria da construção naval brasileira 1990-2010

The aim of this paper is discuss the recent economic history of the Brazilian shipbuilding industry from 1990 to 2010, highlighting the role of the state, through public policies for the domestic industry and credit linked to the Banco Nacional de Desenvolvimento Economico e Social (BNDES). During the period last 20 years, the Brazilian shipbuilding sector has undergone two distinct phases: partial dismantling and recovery activities. In addition to the introduction and final considerations, the article is divided into three topics. In the first, we will present a brief characterization of the shipbuilding industry highlighting its productive aspects, organizational and global participation. Will be detailed the process of dismantling part of the shipbuilding industry, focusing on the process of denationalization and in the absence of public policies more intensive. And, finally, will be feature the resumption of activities anchored in the naval orders from Petrobras and offshore vessels.

Usina termoelétrica em Santa Catarina: da concepção da SOTELCA à privatização da Jorge Lacerda

This article presents a historical boarding of the Thermoelectrial Complex Jorge Lacerda since its state conception in 1956 until the privatization in 1997. The text is divided in five parts. Initially, it is made a panorama of the national system of generation and transmission of energy; in according to place, a brief story of the catarinense carboniferous complex is presented; after that, an reconstitution of the speeches, the laws and the projects is made that had preceded and given concrete conditions for the creation of the SOTELCA; in forth place, an evolution of the SOTELCA since the constitution to the incorporation made for the Eletrosul is presented; and finally, is analyzed the period that goes of this incorporation to the privatization.
