Intellectual Resources in Polish Enterprises in the SME Sector - Analysis of the Obtained Research Results

In the modern market economy, intellectual resources are the main driving force behind the economic and technological development of enterprises in the SME sector. This issue is a key factor for the development of this type of enterprises in Poland. The article presents the results of research including published statistical data (Polish and European reports) and own surveys carried out in a group of 32 enterprises belonging to the sector of small and medium-sized enterprises. Questionnaire interview (oral communication, standardization of the message, individual respondent, presence of an interviewer) was directed to the managerial staff. The aim of the research was to determine the level of knowledge about intellectual resources and their role and importance for the functioning and development of the company. Statistical surveys and results obtained from interviews were illustrated with drawings. The analysis of the obtained results indicates low interest in practical issues of intellectual property management in the surveyed enterprises, which are again reflected in the limited use of these resources in order to build innovative potential and competitive advantage. In this area, our own research coincides with statistical data, including the European Innovation Scoreboard (2017).

Dimensions of Business Ecosystem Efficiency

The research paper refers to the complexity of the business ecosystem’s efficiency by attempting to describe the dimensions of organizational efficiency of the business ecosystem. The paper presents a business ecosystem as a set of organizations that interact with one another by creating various correlations and relationships of a symbiotic character - from competing to cooperative. Eight models of measurement of organizational efficiency were identified and systematized following the subject literature. Their analysis and own research allowed the authors to point out another model of measuring the efficiency of business ecosystems, which was named relational.

Creative Thinking in Management of Disruptive Technologies

The article presents creative thinking as a construct determining development of disruptive technologies. This construct consists of three elements: innovative thinking, design thinking and strategic thinking. The notion of creative thinking is understood as the organisation’s ability to solve problems from different perspectives, with the use of knowledge, intuition and reason, and as a result getting a fresh look at their substance. Thinking understood in this way allows for generating a breakthrough solution that does not constitute a solution directly resulting from the commonly accepted and recommended paradigm.

Strategies of the higher education institution based on disruptive innovations

Higher education institutions in Poland, similarly as in other European countries, are reporting to thorough transformations which concern the level of administering and the organization of academic institutions, as well as the level of axiology, basic aims and the function in the modern society. These changes are a consequence of the overall process of the reorientation and the reorganization of the scientific knowledge in compliance with the requirements of the knowledge-based economy. In the paper the authors propose the model of the modern higher education institution (innovative university) which gives a chance of fulfilling the idea of creating and sharing the knowledge with the economic sector and the society. Simultaneously they recommend four base innovative strategies for the higher education institution allowing better utilization of the potential of the university research.
