Observation of Autoionizing Energy Levels in the Spectra of Copper-Like Ions As V, Se VI and Br VII

Aleksandr N. Ryabtsev; J.-F. Wyart; Th. A. M. van Kleef; Y N Joshi

From 3d-4p transitions in the copper-like spectra of As V, Se VI and Br VII, energy levels of 3d9 4p2 have been found above the ground state 3d10 1S0 of the nickel-like ions. Some of them are broadened by autoionization. The Slater-Condon theory and the generalized least squares techniques led to the interpretation of 121 levels of 3d9 4p2 from As V to Pd XVIII. The analysis of the one-electron spectra was extended and the ionization limits were revised. The widths of autoionizing energy levels have been calculated from the eigenfunctions in intermediate coupling and ab initio radial integrals, and they show a good agreement with the measured values.

Eighth spectrum of antimony: Sb VIII. Revised 2D interval: Sb VII

Th. A. M. VanKleef; M. M. Barakat; Aleksandr N. Ryabtsev; Y N Joshi

The spectrum of antimony was photographed in the 173–264-A region on a variety of grazing-incidence spectrographs using a triggered spark source. All levels of the 4d8 configuration and 102 of 110 levels of the 4d75p configuration of Sb viii have been established. The least-squares-fitted energy-parameter calculations support the analysis. Two hundred fifty-six lines have been classified in this spectrum. Improved wavelength values have led to obtaining a better value of 10 397 ± 2 cm−1 for the 4d9 2D interval and a revision of four levels of Sb vii reported earlier [ J. Opt. Soc. Am.69, 132 ( 1979); J. Opt. Soc. Am.70, 895 ( 1980)].

The spectrum of indium was photographed on 10.7 m grazing incidence and 3-m grazing incidence spectrographs in the wavelength region 450-200 A. The sources used were a triggered spark and a sliding spark. The analysis of the 4d7-4d65p transitions of In VII in 300-230 A region enabled us to establish 17 of 19 levels of the 4d7 configuration and 131 out of 180 levels of the 4d65p configuration. 419 lines have been classified. The least-squared-fitting parametric calculations support the analysis.

The Analysis of the 3d8, 3d74p and 3p 53d9 Configurations of the As VIII Spectrum

P. H. M. Uylings; Th. A. M. VanKleef; Y N Joshi; L. I. Podobedova; Aleksandr N. Ryabtsev

The spectrum of As VIII was photographed in the 100-400 ? region on a variety of spectrographs using a triggered vacuum spark and an open vacuum spark as sources. All levels of the 3d8, 3p53d9 configurations and 98 out of 110 levels of the 3d74p configuration have been established. A weak configuration interaction was observed between the 3d74p and 3p53d9 configurations. The least-squares-fit calculations involving configuration interaction were carried out and they support the analysis. Two hundred and fifty-three (253) lines have been classified in this spectrum.

Analysis of the 3d9ns (n = 5, 6), 3d95p, 3d94f and 3d84s4p configurations of five times ionized arsenic (As VI)

Aleksandr N. Ryabtsev; R R Gayasov; Y N Joshi; G. J. van het Hof

The spectrum of arsenic was photographed in the 100-1250 A region on grazing and normal incidence spectrographs. The spectrum of As VI was extended. Seven out of eight levels of the 3d95s and 6s configurations, 12 out of 12 levels of the 3d95p configuration, 13 out of 20 levels of the 3d94f configuration and 35 levels belonging to the 3d84s4p configuration have been established. Least-Square-Fitted parametric calculations involving configuration interactions both in even and odd parity systems were carried out to adequately interpret the spectrum. One hundred and thirtytwo additional lines were classified in the As VI spectrum. A new value of the ionization limit was obtained. Thus, the 3d92D5/2 ground level in As VII lies 977 500 cm−1 (121.17 eV) above the As VI ground state.

Abstract The ninth spectrum of selenium (Se IX) was photographed in the region 100–140 A on a variety of grazing incidence spectrographs using a triggered spark or an open spark as sources. On the basis of these measurements all levels of the 3d 8 configuration, 11 out of 12 levels of the 3p 5 3d 9 configuration and 95 out of 110 levels of the 3d 7 4p configuration have been established. A strong configuration interaction exists between the two odd configurations. Least-squares-fit and Hartree Fock calculations support the analysis. Two hundred and twenty-five (225) lines have been classified in Se IX.
