EuCl3 proves to be an efficient catalyst for Michael addition of 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds. The employment of Eu+3 chiral complex [Eu(tfc)3] allows the formation of Michael adducts in enantioselective way.

Abstract Kinetic resolution of racemic sulfoxides is achieved by enantioselective oxidation to sulfones under Sharpless-type conditions.
Tetrahedron-asymmetry | 1996
Arrigo Scettri; Francesco Bonadies; Alessandra Lattanzi
Abstract Chiral sulfoxides are accessible with very satisfactory enantiomeric excesses through a modified Sharpless procedure, based on the employment of furylhydroperoxides. Racemic hydroperoxides are found to undergo a kinetic resolution in the course of the asymmetric oxidation.

4 A molecular sieves catalyze the mild conversion of activated secondary alcohols into the corresponding carbonyl compounds with t-butyl hydroperoxide (TBHP).

Francesco Bonadies; Antonella Cardilli; Alessandra Lattanzi; Silvia Pesci; Arrigo Scettri
Abstract By treatment with stabilized lithium phosphonates in the presence of activated 4A molecular sieves, unprotected α-hydroxy ketones 1 undergo a convenient Horner-Wadsworth-Emmons olefination to give directly butenolides 3 as exclusive or predominant products.

Abstract The compatibility of the generation of furylhydroperoxides by a radical chain process with the presence of oxygen acceptors and transition metal catalysts allows the achievement of a modified Sharpless procedure for the epoxidation of allylic alcohols and oxidation of sulphides to sulphoxides.
