Towards gcm re-configuration - extending specification by norms

Alessandro Basso; Alexander Bolotov

We continue investigation of formal specification of Grid Component systems by temporal logics and subsequent application of temporal resolution as a verification technique. This time we enrich the specification language by the ability to capture norms which enables us to formally define a concept of a re-configuration. We aim at integrating a software tool for automated specification as well as verification to ensure a reliable and dynamically re-configurable model.

Behavioural model of component-Based Grid Environments

Alessandro Basso; Alexander Bolotov; Vladimir Getov

In component-based Grid environments, we analyse the problem of formal specification of their behaviour by introducing an automata-based model. We show how to construct this new framework from the analysis of states of components and how to apply it to a reconfiguration scenario in a dynamic distributed system environment. We aim at building a framework for future integration of these developments in a software tool for runtime automated specification and verifi-cation, ensuring a reliable dynamically reconfigurable component model.

Temporal Specification and Deductive Verification of a Distributed Component Model and Its Environment

Alessandro Basso; Alexander Bolotov; Vladimir Getov

In this paper we investigate the formalisation of distributed and long-running stateful systems using our normative temporal specification framework. We analyse aspects of a component-oriented Grid system, and the benefits of having a logic-based tool to perform automated and safe dynamic reconfiguration of its components. We describe which parts of this Grid system are involved in the reconfiguration process and detail the translation procedure into a state-based formal specification. Subsequently, we apply deductive verification to test whether dynamic reconfiguration can be performed. Finally, we analyse the procedure required to update our model for reconfiguration and justify the validity and the advantages of our methodology.

Specilfication and Verilfication of Rleconfiguration Protocols in Grid Comnponent Systemns

Alessandro Basso; Alexander Boltov; Artie Basukoski; Vladimir Getov; Ludovic Henrio; Mariusz Urbański

In this work we present an approach for the formal specification and verification of the reconfiguration protocols in grid component systems. We consider fractal, a modular and extensible component model. As a specification tool we invoke a specific temporal language, separated clausal normal form, which has been shown to be capable of expressing any ECTiL+ expression, thus, we are able to express the complex fairness properties of a component system. The structure of the normal enables us to directly apply the deductive verification technique, temporal resolution defined in the framework of branching-time temporal logic
