Analytic continuation from imaginary to real chemical potential in two-color QCD

Paolo Cea; Leonardo Cosmai; Massimo D'Elia; Alessandro Papa

The method of analytic continuation from imaginary to real chemical potential is one of the most powerful tools to circumvent the sign problem in lattice QCD. Here we test this method in a theory, two-color QCD, which is free from the sign problem. We find that the method gives reliable results, within appropriate ranges of the chemical potential, and that a considerable improvement can be achieved if suitable functions are used to interpolate data with imaginary chemical potential.

A proof of fulfillment of the strong bootstrap condition

Victor S. Fadin; Alessandro Papa

Abstract It is shown that the kernel of the BFKL equation for the octet color state of two Reggeized gluons satisfies the strong bootstrap condition in the next-to-leading order. This condition is much more restrictive than the one obtained from the requirement of the Reggeized form for the elastic scattering amplitudes in the next-to-leading approximation. It is necessary, however, for self-consistency of the assumption of the Reggeized form of the production amplitudes in multi-Regge kinematics, which are used in the derivation of the BFKL equation. The fulfillment of the strong bootstrap condition for the kernel opens the way to a rigorous proof of the BFKL equation in the next-to-leading approximation.

Analytic continuation of the critical line: Suggestions for QCD

Paolo Cea; Leonardo Cosmai; Massimo D'Elia; Chiara Manneschi; Alessandro Papa

We perform a numerical study of the systematic effects involved in the determination of the critical line at real baryonic chemical potential by analytic continuation from results obtained at imaginary chemical potentials. We present results obtained in theories free of the sign problem, such as two-color QCD with finite baryonic density and three-color QCD with finite isospin chemical potential, and comment on general features which could be relevant also to the continuation of the critical line in real QCD at finite baryonic density.

pair can be fitted by a function derived, by dual analogy, from a simple variational model for the magnitude of the normalized order parameter of an isolated Abrikosov vortex. Previous results for the SU(3) vacuum are revisited, but here the transverse chromoelectric field is measured by means of the connected correlator of two Polyakov loops and, in order to reduce noise, the smearing procedure is used instead of cooling. The penetration and coherence lengths of the flux tube are then extracted from the fit and compared with previous results.

Chromoelectric flux tubes and coherence length in QCD

Paolo Cea; Leonardo Cosmai; Alessandro Papa

Abstract The dipole form of the “Abelian” part of the massless quark contribution to the BFKL kernel is found in the coordinate representation by direct transfer from the momentum representation where the contribution was calculated before. It coincides with the corresponding part of the quark contribution to the dipole kernel calculated recently by Balitsky and is conformal invariant.

staggered fermions at nonzero temperature and quark density. We perform Monte Carlo simulations at imaginary baryon chemical potentials with Highly Improved Staggered Quarks (HISQ), adopting the HISQ/tree action discretization as implemented in the code by the MILC Collaboration. Couplings are adjusted so as to move on a line of constant physics, as determined in Ref. [1], with the strange quark mass
