OBJECTIVE: To assess body perception and prevalence of symptoms of nervous anorexy in college students. METHODS: Cross-sectional study with convenience sample. We used the Eating Attitudes Test questionnaire (EAT-26) and the Body Image Test to evaluate symptoms of nervous anorexy and the body perception on the participants, respectively. In the statistical analysis, Binomial test was used to assess the association between qualitative variables. RESULTS: This study included 149 nutrition and 78 physical education students. The results showed that 10.3% and 14.1% of the physical education and nutrition students, respectively, presented risk factors for the development of anorexy, and the Body Image Test revealed high levels of dissatisfaction regarding body shape of students in both courses: 75.8% and 78.2% in nutrition and physical education, respectively. CONCLUSION: Students of nutrition showed greater tendency to present risk behavior for developing nervous anorexy, predominantly in females. Moreover, the results showed high proportions of dissatisfaction with body image in both courses. These results raise concern, since the physical education teachers and nutritionists are the professionals who play a key role in detecting and, in the case of a nutritionist, managing these disorders.

Objective To identify the risk behavior for the development of orthorexia nervosa in students of Nutrition. Methods Descriptive and correlational study. The research subjects were students of Nutrition, female, over 18 years old, from the University of Vale do Paraiba, SP. Three instruments were applied, the first being about basic information such as age, height and specified weight and study year. The data on specified weight and height were used in the calculation of the body mass index (BMI) and nutritional status classification. The second was to identify the perception of body image according to the Silhouettes Scale. The Third was used to verify the risk behavior for development of orthorexia nervosa (Ortho-15). Results A total of 150 students with an average age of 23.21 years participated in the study. It was observed that most of the students were eutrophic (74%, n = 111), according to the BMI classification. Regarding the perception of body image, it was found that 74,7% (n = 112) of the students studying Nutrition had body image disturbance. Regarding orthorexia nervous it was observed that 88.7% (n = 133) of the students were at risk for developing orthorexic behavior. By relating the orthorexic behavior with grade level, with nutritional status and body image disturbance, there was no association between the variables (p > 0.05). Conclusion It is concluded that a considerable number of students from the Nutrition course present orthorexic behavior and body image disturbance.

Many adolescent girls leave their families to pursue a modeling career, dreaming of a glamorous future. The present cross-sectional case-control study analyzed the quality of life of 74 female adolescents, 37 of whom were models at agencies in the city of Sao Paulo (Brazil), using the World Health Organization Quality of Life -BREF questionnaire, which analyzes physical, psychological, social and environmental domains. The Brazil Criteria 2008 were used for the assessment of socioeconomic status and for pairing the control group. The group of models generally achieved higher mean scores than the non-model group, with the difference only significant on the psychological subscale. The results show that the teenage models had a similar quality of life to that of the non-models.

Objective: To propose a protocol for consultation of nutrition in early childhood using techniques of nutritional counseling through literature review, gathering information to submit, simultaneously, technical issues relevant to child nutritional care and communication skills for proper approach to the mother/caregiver in each step of the consultation. Data source: A bibliographic survey was conducted using SCIELO, PUBMED and BIREME databases, as well as scientific journals, relevant internet websites, technical books, and publications of national entities. The texts analyzed addressed topics on child nutrition, techniques used in pediatric nutritional consultation, and nutritional counseling. Based on the information found, we developed a protocol integrating skills of nutritional counseling to the technical procedures relating to consultation. Data synthesis: Because of the importance of nutrition in the health of children and prevention of diseases in adult life, several tools have been proposed in the literature with the objective to establish diagnostic and nutritional practices in childhood. However, for positive effects on eating behavior changes in the child, the health professional should not be limited to providing information. Nutritional counseling on infant and young child feeding aims to strengthen mothers/caregiversso that they can become capable of making appropriate decisions regarding their children’s feeding. Conclusions: The creation of a protocol of nutritional consultation in early childhood, using techniques of nutritional counseling, is presented as a contribution to the qualification of the care of this population, allowing a more effective dialog between nutritionist and mother/caregiver, and promoting the coping strategies involved in the challenge of overcoming the existing food related problems

The structure of the title compound, [Cu 2 (CH 3 COO) 2 -(C 16 H 16 N 4 O 2 )], was determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction and revealed binuclear complex molecules which lie about inversion centers. The Cu II atom has square-pyramidal coordination, with an additional nonbonded Cu...O contact of 2.818(4) A, which helps the maintenance of the crystal packing.
