The authors report a case of congenital optic disc pit with serous macular detachment successfully treated, with argon laser photocoagulation in the temporal border of the pit, followed by intravitreous injection of C3F8 (100%) 0.3 ml. Patient was followed up for 12 months. Retinal reattachment was associated with improvement in visual acuity, as well as return of the fovea to its normal configuration shown by optical coherence tomography.

The authors describe a case of a circumscribed choroidal hemangioma with secondary retinal detachment treated with transpupillary thermotherapy using diode laser. The settings were: 900 mW power, 4.2 mm spot, for 3 minutes, QuadrAsphericO lens (Volkâ) with a magnification factor of 1.97. One month later, there was a significant shrinkage of the hemangioma with full recovery of vision in this eye. The authors discuss some aspects of this method, which seems promising in treatment of this vascular tumors.

Síndrome de Charles Bonnet: alucinações visuais em pacientes com doenças oculares - Relato de caso

In this article the authors report two cases of Charles Bonnet syndrome, defined as complex visual hallucinations in patients with low vision, and the patient is aware of the unreal nature of the phenomenon. A great number of cases is misdiagnosed due to lack of direct questioning by the physician. Since the emotional distress caused by this disease, the knowledge of its symptoms is essential in the management of these patients.

Retinal venous occlusions are the second most common retinal vascular diseases, behind diabetic retinopathy. The retinal vein branch occlusion is defined as a retinal vein focal occlusion at the level of an arteriovenous crossing, where the artery lies anterior to vein. The clinical trial with laser photocoagulation for this disease, as well as new proposed surgical therapeutic techniques will be reviewed.

Congenital retinal macrovessel is a large aberrant vessel, often unilateral, usually a vein, rarely an artery, located in the posterior pole which can cross the fovea and median raphe.

Aicardi Syndrome is a neuroretinal disorder of unknown etiology. The diagnosis is based on the finding of infantile seizures and chorioretinal lacunae associated with characteristic radiological alterations (agenesy of the corpus callosum). Till the present, all reported cases are in females, except one in a boy with a 47XXY karyotype; the children usually die before puberty. The objective is to describe a case of Aicardi syndrome. Chorioretinal lacunae are very important findings in this syndrome, considered pathognomonic in a young girl presenting seizures. The ophthalmologist has an important role in confirming the diagnosis of this syndrome.

The authors report a rare case of a diabetic patient with rubeosis iridis who had cataract extraction with intraocular lens implantation, in whom neovascularization developed within the posterior lens capsule.
