The paper presents a study regarding the possibility to develop a drowsiness detection system for car drivers based on three types of methods: EEG and EOG signal processing and driver image analysis. In previous works the authors have described the researches on the first two methods. In this paper the authors have studied the possibility to detect the drowsy or alert state of the driver based on the images taken during driving and by analyzing the state of the driver’s eyes: opened, half-opened and closed. For this purpose two kinds of artificial neural networks were employed: a 1 hidden layer network and an autoencoder network.

The paper presents a new, innovative concept regarding a propulsion system for non-autonomous electric vehicles (trolley buses, trams, subway frames). The system’s main part is the electric-hydraulic generator. The generator converts electrical energy into hydrostatic energy that’s stored in an accumulator. By using a hydraulic motor, this hydrostatic energy is converted in motor torque in form of rotational motion. Because the electric motor operates in a single regime, the electric consumption is reduced. Also the new system ensures better dynamic performances and operational safety.

The paper presents a new method of monitoring and warning drowsy drivers in order to prevent accidents. Analyzing current approaches we decided to study algorithms which can be used for drowsiness/awareness detection when applying techniques based on EEG and EMG signals measurement. There are also a large number of studies which uses EEG signals for brain – computer interface applications. This method has the advantage that is independent from the equipment, vehicle or situ where it is used, and can be applied both for drivers and equipment operators too.

The thermo-hydraulic single regime operating generator is an innovative concept developed for the propulsion of road vehicles. The aim of the paper is to calculate the pressure losses in the hydraulic circuit of the single regime running thermo-hydraulic generator. The calculus is based on a modular approach proposed by. The pressure of the hydraulic liquid is determined by taking into consideration the local and the linear pressure losses in the system. These pressure losses are calculated applying classic formulas. This is important because the free piston displacement depends on the pressures acting on the side surfaces. The calculus algorithm is based on the constructive data of an experimental model.

Separator type machines are used in food industry to separate useful parts of poly-granular materials from impurities. Most of their kind are vibratory machines that have a specific motions directed with non-equilibrated masses generators. Work paper presented in the following is about vibrations measurements in order to establish that specific motions of these machine types. An original measurement hardware system is used next to specific programs for processing data that are obtained in order to detect motion trajectory along with transmitted vibratory motion to the ground. Conclusions drawn are that supporting elements are good both for motion sustainability and for damping of the transmitted vibrations to the ground. Keywords—vibratory machine, separating machine, supporting elements, elastic and damping properties

In this paper is presented the calculus, designed by the authors, of the fuel supply scheme for a multipoint injection system. The calculated outputs are the fuel consumption and the injection duration depending on the rotational speed and on the environmental temperature. A computer program was developed to determine the parameters of a SI engine in two cases: 1. the calculation of the injection parameters depending on the rotational speed (n) and on the airfuel ratio () for environmental temperatures t0=-35...+45 C and environmental pressures p0=1·10 5 Pa; 2. the calculation of the injection parameters depending on the rotational speed (n) and on the environmental temperature t0 for a air-fuel ratio =1 and environmental pressures p0=1·10 5 Pa. Keywords— electric pump, electronic injection, flow meter, air-fuel ratio

The paper presents the design and testing of a pneumatic engine built from standard cylinders. The engine, designed as a centric inverted slider-crank mechanism, had been modeled and simulation results are presented together with some test results used to validate the model.

The paper presents the basis for the design of thermal-hydraulic generators running in a single regime. The thermal-hydraulic generators in a single regime running represent an absolute novelty worldwide (a pioneer invention). Based on the methodology concerning this subject, the design calculus for an experimental model was developed.

From the analysis of vibration generating machines, made on the basis of experimental data and virtual models, closed cyclic trajectories had been obtained. In this case the motion is produced using two generators with non-equilibrated masses while the machine body is supported by special rubber elastic elements with fixed mechanical characteristics. In order to increase the domain of operation of such machines and also to improve their functional capabilities the authors propose a new machine structure which uses pneumatic cylinders as actuators but in the same time as supporting elements with controllable mechanical characteristics. A virtual model of this structure had been developed and tested, and the test results are presented together with conclusions on the new structure’s behavior. The virtual model, allows the analysis of mechanical parameters (rigidity) of a pneumatic cylinder in order to establish the controllability of the supporting element. In order to obtain the desired cyclic trajectories the inverse kinematic analysis had been developed, obtaining the displacements at pneumatic cylinder level.
