In this paper, we propose a new computer-aided detection (CAD) - based method to detect pulmonary embolism (PE) in computed tomography angiography images (CTAI). Since lung vessel segmentation is the main objective to provide high sensitivity in PE detection, this method performs accurate lung vessel segmentation. To concatenate clogged vessels due to PEs, the starting region of PEs and some reference points (RPs) are determined. These RPs are detected according to the fixed anatomical structures. After lung vessel tree is segmented, the region, intensity, and size of PEs are used to distinguish them. We used the data sets that have heart disease or abnormal tissues because of lung disease except PE in this work. According to the results, 428 of 450 PEs, labeled by the radiologists from 33 patients, have been detected. The sensitivity of the developed system is 95.1% at 14.4 false positive per data set (FP/ds). With this performance, the proposed CAD system is found quite useful to use as a second reader by the radiologists.

The paper examines the problem of tuning the parameters of a PID controller for the frequently assumed first-order plus dead time plant. The original contribution is to look at the problem from a time-scaling viewpoint so that the controller parameters can be given as a function of the time delay to time constant ratio. This enables the controller parameter results of different rules to be easily compared and reveals those that are not consistent under time scaling.

This paper proposes a novel adaptation design to replace the classical proportional-integral controller used in model reference adaptive system (MRAS) speed estimation. The proposed adaptation scheme is an association of two fuzzy units. The rules of each module were obtained by user experience and numerical data. In the traditional fuzzy logic controllers, the computational complication enhances with the attributes of the system variable quantities; the number of rules increases incrementally while the number of control variables increases. This negatively affects the response time of the system. This novel design was deduced to reduce the number of rules for a linear function of system variables. By this way, the response of the system became faster. Detailed simulation and experimental results were obtained for comparison of this novel method with traditional MRAS techniques. The results showed that the proposed method was faster in speed tracking and exhibited higher prediction accuracy and less oscillation than the traditional method. Thus, the proposed MRAS method was clearly seen to be applicable and reliable.

Izvorni znanstveni clanak U radu se predstavljaju tehnike reguliranja brzine primjenom proporcionalnog integrala (PI), derivacije proporcionalnog integrala i fuzzy logike u pogonu sinkronog motora s permanentnim magnetima. PI i PID regulatori zahtijevaju precizni linearni matematicki model sustava. S druge strane, FL zahtijeva lingvisticki opis sustava. Analizirana je dinamicka reakcija PMSMa na regulatore pri razlicitim opterecenjima. Uspoređena je ucinkovitost reguliranja fuzzy logikom i uobicajenim nacinima pomocu PI i PID. FL regulatori su reagirali bolje od uobicajenih tehnika pri prelaznim uvjetima opterecenja te postigli bržu regulaciju. Bu calismada muhendislik egitiminde destek olarak kullanilabilecek, DC motorun PID denetleyici ile hiz denetimi icin internet uzerinden uzaktan erisimli deney duzenegi gelistirilmistir. Deney duzenegi kablosuz olup, ortamda bulunan bir kablosuz ADSL modem araciligiyla TCP/IP uzerinden uzak sunucu ile haberlesmektedir. Kullanicilar internet baglantisi olan herhangi bir bilgisayardan uzak sunucudaki web sayfalarina eriserek gercek zamanli olarak deneyleri gerceklestirebilmektedir. Tasarlanan etkilesimli web sayfalari uzerinden, kullanicilar motorun referans hiz degerini ve PID denetleyici parametrelerini degistirerek hizin degisimini gorebilmekte ve olcum degerlerini bilgisayarina kaydedebilmektedir. Ayrica bir web kamerasi yardimiyla deney setinin calismasi da web sayfasi uzerinden izlenebilmektedir. Ayrica deney duzenegi icin cevre birimleri hazirlanarak kullanici-deney seti etkilesimi artirilmistir. Bu kapsamda kullanici web sayfasi uzerinden deney setinin bulundugu ortamin sicakligini gorebilmekte, deney seti uzerindeki LCD’ye mesajini yazdirabilmekte ve istedigi takdirde deney setini aydinlatabilmektedir.
