In this paper, we examine the performance of PID (proportional integral derivative) and fuzzy controllers on the angular velocity of a hydrostatic transmission system by means of Matlab-Simulink. A very novel aspect is that it includes the analysis of the effect of bulk modulus on system control. Simulation results demonstrates that bulk modulus should be considered as a variable parameter to obtain a more realistic model. Additionally, a PID controller is insufficient in presence of variable bulk modulus, whereas a fuzzy controller provides robust angular velocity control.

Abstract In this study, thermoeconomic analysis of a combined cycle power plant (CCPP) is investigated. The aim of this study is to find the minimum electricity production cost (EPC). The variable parameters selected for the optimization are the compressor pressure ratio, turbine inlet temperature, isentropic efficiencies, discount rate, etc. In the analysis, all thermodynamic and thermoeconomic expressions are formulated as a function of these decision variables. Consequently, the developed model is solved and the conditions giving minimum unit EPC for each value of variable parameters are determined.

Abstract Cogeneration systems are important alternatives in reducing emissions due to the ability of generating both electricity and heat energy simultaneously from the same fuel. In this study, the reduction amounts of the most hazardous emissions such as CO2, NOx and SO2 with using different types of cogeneration systems have been analyzed. The main approach of this analysis determines the emission differences between cogeneration systems and separate power-heat systems in case of generating the same energy. In addition, the parameters affecting this emission reduction have been described. Consequently, limit conditions for emissions reduction have been determined and shown with a case study.
