Essay comprises a research on breast cancer and family history undertaken during seven years at the Center of Applied Psychology of the Federal University of Juiz de Fora, Juiz de Fora MG Brazil. Clinic data supplied by one of the voluntary families included in the UFJF research revealed such categories as marriage, religiosity and sex issues during interviews. The Silva family has a cultural identity typical of the Minas Gerais immigrant country family. An analysis has been undertaken on tradition within the contemporaneous milieu vis-a-vis the intergeneration transmission of culture in support values.Essay comprises a research on breast cancer and family history undertaken during seven years at the Center of Applied Psychology of the Federal University of Juiz de Fora, Juiz de Fora MG Brazil. This paper reports the experience of a psychologist in her doctorate research, and it aims to contribute with the Primary Health Care, mainly in the action with families in homes. It was developed in a basic health unit of a small city of Minas Gerais. Based on the theoretical grounding of Primary Health Care, family and health, it was observed that the major problem to the involvement of patients in the Family Health Strategy was family problems, mainly from a psychological viewpoint. Thus, this paper shows an interdisciplinary way to the psychologist work in basic health units, approaching health professionals to the functional and cultural reality of the families. This is a qualitative research, conducted in households, with semistructured interviews. 14 families were interviewed, and this work intends to understand the history and the dynamics of the family, in order to contribute to the redirection of new interventions made by the health team. From the content analysis, it was highlighted that violence and alcoholism are the factors that more affect the family quality of life and the relationship family-health team. We make some suggestions to redirect the actions of the family-health team.

This paper deals with the question of the dream in couple therapy, taken as a technical resource for analysis, in the elaboration of a traumatic material. The dream is understood by Freud as an individualized work, representative of repressed content related to a forbidden wish. However, the dream, under the theory of Rene Kaes about its polyphony, gains a shared function when present in the intersubjective dimension of a group, family and, in the case of this study, of a couple. Not only the dream content, but the work carried out by the pre-conscious as well, reveals relevant data for clinical investigation. The marital link comprises a fertile ground in which psychological activities, such as projections and identifications, appear with more intensity, and are shared in dreaming. Fragments of a couple clinical case show how the dream can be a way of understanding intersubjectivity that is bound to repressed material.

This paper is related to a life experience and not only a theorical study. During three years of work as a voluntier at the Associacao dos Epilepticos de Minas Gerais (Epilepsy Association of MG) I was allowed to meet some patients and ex-patients and to know their stories and hopes. Up to now, epilepsy does not have a satisfatory etiology. Considered as a symptom, it is very complex and causes crises and attacks. This suffering revels subjectivation that implies pain and fellings of impotence that should be respected by the whole society.
