A reforma sanitária brasileira após 20 anos do SUS: reflexões

This article provides some reflections on the challenges that have arisen during 20 of experience with the implementation of Brazils Unified National Health System and the significance of Constitutional provisions related to health for both academic research and health sector managers. The article discusses the main issues during these 20 years and how they are currently managed, and concludes by inquiring into the need for reconnecting health sector projects to a broader project for Brazilian society, without which the original proposals for health run the risk of becoming merely managerial ones.

Estado e sociedade e as reconfigurações do direito à saúde

Este ensaio resgata algumas das principais discussoes travadas na literatura das ciencias sociais sobre as relacoes entre Estado, sociedade civil e participacao social nas politicas de saude. O recorte adotado e a dimensao politica propriamente dita, deixando-se a parte - embora seja igualmente relevante - a participacao da sociedade na provisao e producao de servicos de saude. Os principais eixos de analise sao as implicacoes sociais e politicas da opcao pela perspectiva da pobreza ou da desigualdade; os movimentos sociais e os direitos sociais; e a relacao Estado/sociedade num contexto de destituicao de direitos. Privilegia-se a otica da instituicao da cidadania da perspectiva da justica e da equidade social frente a diversidade e ao pluralismo que marcam as sociedades contemporâneas, em especial a brasileira, dadas as enormes desigualdades sociais que a caracterizam. A ultima sessao retoma de forma sucinta alguns dos principais tracos que vem marcando a experiencia da participacao social nos Conselhos de Saude apontados pelas numerosas analises a respeito, sem no entanto se fazer um balanco dessa literatura quanto aos marcos teoricos e metodologicos ai presentes.

Condição feminina de mulheres chefes de família em situação de vulnerabilidade social

O estudo efetuou uma aproximacao com a historia de mulheres residentes na regiao central de Santos para compreender sua condicao de vida, estrategias de sobrevivencia e representacoes sobre o papel feminino e a construcao de sua identidade como mulher. Utilizou-se da historia oral para captar os elementos mais significativos da trajetoria vivida por nove mulheres por meio de entrevistas realizadas no domicilio. A historia delas mostrou processos de rupturas e continuidades, a fragilidade da populacao sob o efeito dos processos de vulnerabilidade e exclusao, revelando a condicao feminina de mulheres em situacao de vulnerabilidade social.

Ciências sociais e saúde pública/coletiva: a produção do conhecimento na sua interface

The paper deals with the relations between social sciences and health in the knowledge production of knowledge in the field of Public and Collective Health/Collective Health. It addresses the challenges forof articulating the several areas of knowledge comprised in this areafield, as well as the difficulties concerning the building of a research agenda able to face the demands of the health public policies in health;, it considers considering the rise of a knowledge field which, besides being empirical, is actively concerned with establishing health as a right and a public good.

Farmácia: a porta de entrada para o acesso a medicamentos para idosos residentes em Santos

Abstract This study aimed to profile the consumption of drugs by seniors,with emphasis on the association between the most commonly purchased drugs of continueduse and other drugs without medical prescription,and to evaluate the social role of the pharmacist in private pharmacies.The method was qualitative research, of the comprehensive and expla -natory type, carried outin the city of Santos in 2008, inneighborhoods with high concentration of elderly people(IBGE 2000). In these neighborhoods, three private pharmacieswere identified.They authorized the conductionof the research for one week. During this period,interviews were performedbasedon a structured script.The results showed that the elderly mostly consumethe pharmacological classes of dru-gs ofcontinuous use: antihypertensives, antidiabetic drugs, diuretics and the antiplatelet agent.The main drugs acquired without medical prescription were: analgesics and antipyretics, anti-flu drugs, anti-inflammatory drugs and herbal medicines. Some of those who comprise this set could not have been acquired without prescription. The evidences point to the fact that self-prescribedconsumption, associa -ted with the utilizationof drugs of continuous use, is a common practice among the elderly.Keywords: Elderly; Use of Drugs; Medicine Without Prescription.
