In this paper we propose a method for determining traffic congestion on roads using image processing techniques and a model for controlling traffic signals based on information received from images of roads taken by video camera. We extract traffic density which corresponds to total area occupied by vehicles on the road in terms of total amount of pixels in a video frame instead of calculating number of vehicles. We set two parameters as output, variable traffic cycle and weighted time for each road based on traffic density and control traffic lights in a sequential manner.

Acute power crisis in Bangladesh stresses on the necessity of alternative sources of power generation in short, mid and long term basis. If solar panels be the alternative short term power source, then per unit production cost is a huge barrier in making this technology popular among the mass. But, urban house owners are under a mandatory condition of installing solar panels on their rooftop to get new electricity connection from power utilities. In such a situation, a solar energy rate has been proposed that will cover the solar electricity production cost, alternately called the cost recovery scheme. This rate is near about the maximum per unit rate of energy the government purchases from quick rental plants. Also, different types of solar modules have been compared. This can be a technical support for the city dwellers to who wants to buy solar panels. In this paper, a typical 6 storied building has been surveyed for the calculation of annual average electricity consumption and selected for solar PV design utilizing the unused rooftop of the building.

In this paper, a systemic approach of multi-input-dual-output boost converter for any hybrid electric vehicle is proposed. This kind of multi-input-dual-output boost converter has immense application in hybridizing the electric vehicle efficiently. It also enables the scope of introducing the use of alternative natural renewable energy as well as the other electric potential energy instead of using the most familiar low efficient fuel used internal combustion engine.

Hybrid power system is the newest idea of utilizing renewable energy resources for generating electricity. Power generation largely depends on fossil fuel and as the total amount of reserved fossil fuel is decreasing we have to search for new resources for power generation. Hybrid power system usually demonstrates lower cost of production and higher reliability than the power system only using one renewable source. Geographically, Bangladesh is situated in an area having many renewable resources. Utilization of these resources could help to minimize the power crisis of Bangladesh. As Bangladesh has a large coastal area, we can have moderate wind speed and tidal wave throughout the year. A hybrid power system utilizing wind and tidal energy will be effective to generate power in the coastal areas. This paper shows the design and optimal cost analysis of a hybrid power system using wind and tidal energy in the Kutubdia island of Bangladesh.

A hybrid energy system consists of two or more renewable or conventional energy sources used together to provide efficient power supply. In this paper, a new and evolving hybrid power system has been designed by integrating different types of biomass and diesel. This system can ensure an uninterrupted power generation irrespective of the weather condition and supply of biomass. This system can also ensure maximum utilization of biomass energy sources which will reduce the dependency on the limited fossil fuels like oil and coal those are environmentally harmful.

Bangladesh has long been suffering from energy starvation with its dense population of almost 160 million. Energy crisis of Bangladesh has reached to the very last level and power generation is the top priority of the present government. Government has taken some policies to increase the power generation to meet the crisis. But it is evident that in near future we have to switch from fuels to renewable sources of energy for power generation. In this paper the analysis of tidal data of 5 different sites of Bangladesh is presented to propose a suitable site to install tidal turbine for generating power from tidal source. This proposal is expected to make the best use of tidal energy available in the isolated areas and to help to solve the power crisis of the country.

Around the globe the most concerning discussions are on environmental situation and energy crisis. High price along with increasing scarcity of fuel is making decision makers to think about renewable energy. It is high time Bangladesh Government gave much attention towards renewable energy. Government has already been working on solar energy and biogas so that they become popular. In this paper, we present tidal energy of Bangladesh as another potent and promising source of renewable energy. Encompassed by the Bay of Bengal to the south, this country has considerable scope to develop tidal power. Here in this paper we show tidal data of 6 different sites of Bangladesh to propose that Bangladesh has real potential of using tidal sources for power generation which should be properly utilized. Installation of tidal power plants can ensure the best use of tidal energy available in Bangladesh to solve the energy crisis of the country.

Quality analysis of biomass is an important parameter to use it as an effective energy source. It is necessary to understand because the performance and efficiency of biomass based power plant machineries are interrelated with biomass quality. In this paper, the efficiency of biomass utilization has been realized from quality perspective. Moreover, biomass quality variation has been analysed with respect to different weather conditions.

Among the present multidimensional global problems, such as wars, inflation, food shortage, increase of population and environmental crisis, the energy crisis is the most crucial one, which involves the whole human race. In general the problem of energy has remained centered around the conventional fuel because of their periodic price rise and limited quantity. Thats where the usefulness of renewable energy comes in. To ensure maximum utilization of the available renewable energy sources we must use the hybridization technique. In this paper we discuss different hybridization technique and equipment associated with it to ensure maximum utilization of energy in Bangladesh perspectives.

Power crisis in the world has compelled mankind to think for alternative energy. But all the alternative sources have not yet been exploited. From many ongoing researches, it reveals that if all the alternative energy sources are exploited, the energy crisis of the world would be reduced to a great extent. Many alternative energy technologies today are well developed and they are reliable and cost competitive with the conventional fuel generators. There are many alternative sources of energy such as biomass, wind, solar, minihydro and tidal power. The most important advantage offered by alternative energy sources is their potential to provide sustainable electricity in areas not served by the conventional power grid. Most of the alternative energy technologies produce DC power, and hence power electronics and control equipment are required to convert the DC power into AC power. Industry professionals are now opening their minds to alternate energy sources that can deliver quality power at reduced life-cycle costs in a variety of applications. Alternate energy sources generate power independently of the electrical grid. These sources can operate in stand-alone mode or they can be interconnected directly to the grid. With the use of power electronics, the alternative energy may be directly converted into commercial supply effectively in a cost effective way.
