Wireless Robotics: Opportunities and Challenges

Sivabalan Arumugam; Ritesh Kumar Kalle; Anand Raghawa Prasad

Wireless robotics is one of the emerging fields in the world of automation. In-spite of research and standardization efforts around the world, the definition of the term “Robot” is still evolving. Robots have found application in many domains including home automation, industrial automation, health-care, surveillance, reconnaissance, planetary exploration or rescue missions. This paper addresses some of the opportunities, research challenges and standardization issues in wireless robotics with the focus on wireless and networking aspects.

Anchor-less secure session mobility

Alf Zugenmaier; Julien Laganier; Anand Raghawa Prasad

Communication session mobility relates transferring one endpoint of a communication session including its state from one device to another. Current proposals to deal with this securely require an anchor. We propose an anchor-less solution that takes some ideas from the host identity protocol. We then show how the idea of transferring endpoints simultaneously can be tackled without introducing timeouts as the session initiation protocol currently does.

Cyber Security: Beyond 2050

Anand Raghawa Prasad; Sivabalan Arumugam

Technology advancement is happening at a pace that is creating a “technology jet-lag” for the human society. 15 years back, 10 years was considered normal time for research ideas to be productized but today there is barely any gap. Thus in this paper we proclaim that “Cyber 2050” will happen in the (human) year 2020, i.e. 1 cyber year is equivalent to 7 human years. This pace of technological enhancement puts security at stress and thus requiring the industry to re-consider the security model. In this paper, first we present our views of cyber security in the cyber year 2050. Next, we look at the human year 2050 and present our vision of the society and cyber security implications. Basic concepts in this paper were presented during the 100th PhD celebration of Professor Ramjee Prasad (Prasad AR in Cyber security: 2050 and beyond. CITF, Denmark [1]).
