Abstract New complexes of the general types HCoX3 ·nL and HCo Y2X·nL (X=Br, I; Y=Cl, Br, I; L=diethyl ether, pyridine, aniline; n=1, 2, 3 and 4) have been prepared and characterized by elemental analyses, molar conductance measurements, magnetic measurements, spectral (UV, visible, IR and far-IR) data and X-ray powder patterns. All the magnetic and spectroscopic results indicate that pseudotetrahedral [CoX3L]− and [CoY2XL]− anions are present in the solid pyridine and aniline complexes. The data for the solid compounds are compatible with, and lend support to, outer spheres comprising (N[sbnd]H[sbnd]N)+ groups.

The preparation and some properties of the cobalt(II) complexes Co(LH2)Cl2·2H2O, Co(LH2(NCS)2 and CoL·H2O (whereLH2=N,N′-(dipicolyl)-1,8-naphthylenediamine) are reported. On the basis of magnetic moments, visible reflectance and IR data, the structure is proposed to be pseudo-octahedral for Co(LH2)Cl2·2 H2O, pseudo-tetrahedral for Co(LH2)(NCS)2 and square planar for CoL·H2O.ZusammenfassungEs werden die Darstellung und einige Eigenschaften der Kobalt(II)-Komplexe Co(LH2)Cl2·2 H2O, Co(LH2)(NCS)2 und CoL·H2O [LH2=N,N′-(dipicolyl)-1,8-naphthylendiamin] diskutiert.

Four new stable addition compounds have been prepared by reaction of germanium tetraiodide with various tertiary amines. It is a case of adducts of 1:4 composition, in contrast to the 1:5 addition compound with triethylamine, which we have also prepared and investigated for comparison. Formation, properties, analytical results, conductometric measurements and spectral data (IR and1H-NMR) of these adducts are described and discussed in terms of possible structural types and the nature of the bonding.

In the present paper the preparation and some properties of compounds of aniline and quinoline with mixed complex haloacids of Indium(III) with thiocyanate are reported. Their UV and IR spectra are discussed.

The present work contains the preparation, for the first time, of complex iodo acids of gallium(III) and indium(III) as well as the preparation of compounds of these acids with pyridine and aniline. A study of some of the chemical and physical properties of these acids and the UV and IR spectra of the pyridine and aniline compounds are also described.
