A generic architecture of ADAS sensor fault injection for virtual tests

This paper deals with an advanced approach for the verification of ADAS algorithms in complex automotive sensor networks. We introduce a real-time modular framework that can benchmark the performance of the ADAS algorithms at the electronic system level using a Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) co-simulation. The presented research provides a generic architecture of ADAS sensor error injection for robustness testing of the System under Test (SuT). Effects of sensor failures can be added in a continuous manner to achieve increased degrees of realism. For efficient verification, an astute selection of relevant test scenarios is conducted using model-based testing to avoid repetitive test scenarios. The industry-proven framework facilitates a systematic testing of ADAS algorithms precisely and more efficiently on the target electronic control unit (ECU) in the laboratory.

Using drive-by-wire technology to design integrated powertrain modules ntegration of the evaluation of surrounding variables

This paper presents a modular mechatronic system based on the major assemblies of the engine, transmission, axles and steering systems. The overall concept of an integrated powertrain for performing holistic movement tasks, including the propulsion, braking, steering and load-carrying functions, will be realized based on electronic actuation. The powertrain will be activated as a drive-by-wire module by specifying a movement wish (direction and acceleration) at an electronic coordination level. The paper outlines both the options for designing the system architecture and the degree of functional integration with the aim of using the smallest possible number of control units. The paper also discusses potential areas of application such as autonomous driving, sidestick and electronic drawbar, as well as applications like reversing assistance for truck-and-trailer combinations. Questions relating to the causes of accidents are discussed with a view to improving active traffic safety. The aim of future developments is to use data from predictive and reactive systems in order to avoid dangerous traffic situations before a driving command is executed. The number of accidents can be reduced by using data which has been acquired from a carefully targeted evaluation of the surrounding variables, before issuing a securely confirmed planned movement wish.

Im Rahmen eines Entwicklungsprojekts entwarf die Daimler AG, Bereich Vorentwicklung Nutzfahrzeuge, in enger Kooperation mit dem Karlsruher Institut fur Technologie (KIT) eine Methodik fur die Modellierung und Validierung eines verbrauchsreduzierten hybriden Lenksystems fur Lkw. Um eine optimale Systemkonfiguration erstellen und unterschiedliche Technikvarianten fur das hybride Lenksystem bewerten zu konnen, wurde ein entwicklungsmethodischer Ansatz gewahlt. Dieser ermoglicht es dem Entwickler, die Komplexitat dieses mechatronischen Systems detailliert zu analysieren, Optimierungspotenziale quantitativ zu ermitteln und ein Anforderungsprofil an die simulations- und experimentbasierte Entwicklungsumgebung unter besonderer Berucksichtigung der Modellgute und Entwicklungseffizienz zu erstellen.
