The results of experimental research of characteristics of acoustic waves generated under hard human tooth tissue destruction by YAG:Er and YAG:Cr,Tm,Ho laser submillisecond pulses are reported for the first time.
Medical Applications of Lasers III | 1996
Andrei V. Belikov; Alexander F. Novikov; Alexei V. Scrypnik
This paper is to originally present the results of a research of temporal and frequency structures of laser pulse and laser-induced acoustic one generated in human tooth enamel and dentine. An impact of tooth surface water spray on a deformation character of laser-induced acoustic signal frequency Fourier-spectrum has been defined also.

Certain properties of the laser action on the hard tooth tissues have been studied, using free running pulsed Er-doped YAG, YSGG, YAP and YLF lasers, operating in 3 micrometers wavelength range. The influence of the laser radiation wavelength, power density and sample structure on the tooth destruction threshold have been studied.
Laser Surgery: Advanced Characterization, Therapeutics, and Systems IV | 1994
Gregory B. Altshuler; Andrei V. Belikov; Andrew V. Erofeev
The results of primary comparative investigation of possible application of lasers based on four different Er-doped crystals (YAG, YLF, YSGG, YAP) are presented. The influence of laser wavelength and temporal structure of laser radiation on efficiency of hard tooth tissues treatment is considered. The experimental data on damage thresholds and efficiency of enamel and dentine removal under influence of submillisecond pulses of all four types of lasers are obtained.

The problem of a superfluous weight is extremely exciting for a modern cosmetology. The solution of the problem by application of light sources is quite difficult if no optical characteristic of a fat tissue is known. This paper studies a temperature dynamics of full, collimated and diffuse and scattering flows of non-coherent polychromatic light came through an in vitro lard sample. On experimenting the authors found a sharp degradation of in vitro lard sample scattering properties at a temperature of 25±1°C.

The results of hard tissues of human tooth processed by pulses of Nd, Ho and Er lasers are represented. As examples of interaction of holmium laser radiation with enamel and dentin the principle phenomena of laser tooth damage is shown.

New possibilities of hard tooth tissues removal efficiency increasing by YAG:Er laser radiation, optimum focusing, reduction of pulse duration, spray and contour method are investigated and demonstrated in the present work.

The analysis of mechanisms of hard dental tissues laser destruction is represented. The model describing thermal processes in human tooth under laser destruction is proposed. Numerically the optimum regimes of enamel and dentin processing is determined considering the minimum overheating of tooth pulp.

The results of comparative investigation for IR and visual absorption spectra of oral cavity bacteria are represented by this paper. There are also shown the main differences in absorption spectra of such pure bacteria cultures as : E- coli, Candida, Staph, Epidermidis, and absorption spectra of bacteria colonies cultured in tooth root canals suspected to harbour several endodontical problems. The results of experimental research targeted to investigate an effect of such combined YAG:Nd and YAG:Cr; Tm; Ho laser parameters like: wavelength, energy density, average power and etc., to oral cavity bacteria deactivation are given finally.

The results of investigation of dynamics of free-running YAG:Er and YSGG:Er:Cr lasers are represented. The influence of pumping, cavity parameters and parameters of crystals on duration and temporal profile of laser pulse is determined.
